Estimation Engineer – Fire Protection Systems

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Estimation Engineer Fire Protection Systems to join our Engineering & Proposals team in Sharjah, UAE.

The role involves fire protection system design, BOQ preparation, quantity take-offs, cost estimation, and techno-commercial proposals for Oil & Gas and industrial projects.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of UAE Fire Code, NFPA standards, fire protection systems, and tender requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design fire protection and firefighting systems for Oil & Gas, industrial, and related projects in accordance with project specifications and applicable codes and standards.
• Develop fire water demand calculations, and system sizing for firefighting systems.
• Prepare fire protection system layouts, schematics, equipment arrangements, and related engineering documentation.
• Review and interpret tender documents, project specifications, drawings, datasheets, and client requirements.
• Prepare accurate Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and detailed material take offs from drawings and specifications.
• Estimate project costs covering materials, equipment, manpower, installation, subcontractors, and other project related costs.
• Prepare detailed and competitive technical and commercial proposals for clients.
• Ensure proposed fire protection systems comply with applicable UAE Fire Code, NFPA standards, client specifications, and international industry standards.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, commercial, operations, and other internal departments to develop complete and well coordinated bids.
• Review vendor quotations and technical offers and incorporate relevant information into estimates and proposals.
• Identify technical requirements, exclusions, assumptions, deviations, and potential commercial risks during the tendering process.
• Support clarification meetings and technical discussions with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors as required.
• Ensure tenders and proposals are completed accurately and submitted within the required deadlines.
• Maintain awareness of applicable fire protection technologies, standards, market pricing, and industry practices.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience in fire protection system design and estimation.
• Experience in Oil & Gas, EPC, industrial, or fire protection projects is highly preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of NFPA standards and UAE Fire Code.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant hydraulic calculation/design software such as PipeNet/Pipenet.
• Strong understanding of firefighting systems, equipment, piping layouts, and fire water networks.
• Experience in BOQ preparation, quantity take offs, material costing, and project estimation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tender documents, and project requirements.
• Good understanding of technical and commercial aspects of tender preparation.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with engineering, procurement, commercial, operations, clients, consultants, and suppliers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in business English.
• Good presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines.
