ESTIMATION ENGINEER (MECHANICAL) MALE / FEMALE

About the Role:

Emerging Horizons is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Estimation Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the pre-construction phase by preparing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive cost estimates for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) projects. This position requires strong technical expertise, proficiency in estimation tools and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities:

Tender & Bid Analysis

Thoroughly review tender documents, drawings, specifications and scope of work to fully understand project requirements.

Analyze project conditions and identify any ambiguities, risks or missing information and raise clarifications through the appropriate channels.

Prepare detailed bid summaries and assist in the preparation of technical and commercial proposals.

Quantity Take-Off & Cost Estimation

Perform accurate quantity take-offs for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems based on drawings and specifications.

Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment and overheads.

Develop unit rates and cost estimates using historical data, market rates and supplier quotations.

Ensure all estimates are aligned with project scope, client requirements and company pricing strategies.

Supplier Coordination

Source and obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors for MEP materials and services.

Evaluate and compare vendor quotations to ensure cost-effectiveness and technical compliance.

Maintain and update a database of approved suppliers, subcontractors, and current market rates.

Interdepartmental Coordination

Collaborate closely with project managers, design engineers, procurement teams and site staff to clarify technical and commercial aspects of projects.

Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits and internal review sessions as required.

Provide estimation support during post-tender negotiations and project handover.

Documentation & Reporting

Prepare and submit accurate estimation reports, cost analyses and bid documents within specified deadlines.

Maintain organized records of all estimates, quotations and correspondence for future reference.

Assist in the preparation of progress reports and cost tracking documents for ongoing projects.

Risk Assessment & Value Engineering

Identify potential cost risks, discrepancies, and opportunities within project estimates.

Propose value engineering alternatives to optimize costs without compromising quality or compliance.

Ensure all estimates comply with relevant building codes, industry standards and client specifications.

Software & Tools Utilization

Utilize AutoCAD to review, interpret and mark up technical drawings.

Use Microsoft Excel for detailed cost calculations, data analysis and BOQ preparation.

Prepare professional reports and presentations using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

Stay updated with the latest estimation software and industry tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) in a relevant discipline.

Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of proven experience as an Estimation Engineer, specifically in MEP works.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Strong command of AutoCAD for reviewing and interpreting drawings.

Familiarity with estimation software and tools is an added advantage.

Solid understanding of MEP systems, materials, and installation methods.

Knowledge of local building codes, standards and regulations.
