Estimator & Pricing Analyst

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator & Pricing Analyst to join our fast-growing Handyman Services division in Lutherville, MD.

This full-time role fulfills two primary functions for the company.

Cost Intelligence

• This role is an important source of cost intelligence for the company
• You will regularly analyze historical cost data, assess project risk, and recommend profitable and competitive pricing strategies
• Conduct material cost estimating and pricing analysis to ensure competitive yet profitable bids
• Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams through effective negotiation to secure favorable terms and pricing
• Build and maintain internal labor and material pricing databases
• Monitor regional subcontractor and supplier trends to accurately update internal pricing tools
• Provide leaders with pricing intelligence and insight into regional cost factors
• Maintain internal estimating templates and tools to insure accuracy and consistency
• Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or inefficiencies and implement improvements
• Continuously improve estimate accuracy, speed, and consistency for the Handyman Services division

Cost Estimates for Client Projects

• Work directly with Scherr Handyman Sales team to develop 25-35 estimates weekly using internal pricing tools and accurate vendor and subcontractor quotes
• Develop detailed cost estimates by analyzing material requirements, labor needs, equipment costs, and subcontractor quotes using estimating software such as Housecall Pro or similar tools
• Ensure all estimates are clear, complete, and aligned with company standards
• Review project details, photos, and notes to build accurate scopes of work
• Respond to website and CRM inquiries by generating estimates from project descriptions and photos
• Flag missing information, potential risks, or unclear scope before estimates are sent to clients
• Support sales and project managers with questions about job scope, quoted costs, and change orders
• Maintain organized digital records of all client projects

Qualifications

• Experience in construction, home services, and estimating
• Experience building or working with a price book or standardized pricing system
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and estimating/project management software
• Comfort working with digital tools and databases (Housecall Pro experience is a plus)
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
• Ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines
• Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and cost data to develop accurate pricing
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with sales, project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and clients
• Ability to work on-site in Lutherville, MD and participate in occasional site visits within the service area
• Relevant education in construction management, engineering, business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
