Estimator

Richards Sheet Metal Ltd is a family run business, based in Nelson Lancashire. We have been established for 50 years and specialise in laser cutting and fabrication for a wide range of customers.

We are looking for a Full time Estimator with experience in a similar business to assist with costing of customer enquiries. We have a broad customer base so the work is interesting, varied, and cross sector.

The hours are 39 hours a week, 8am-5pm Monday- Thursday and 8am – 1pm Friday.

Responsibilities

The primary function is to prepare quotations by interpreting customer drawings using our bespoke software. This involves;

• Understanding the Customers' requirements.
• Liaising with Suppliers to determine material prices, availability and lead times.
• Negotiate best raw material prices and ordering required materials.
• Producing accurate and detailed manufacturing cost estimates generated from detailed client manufacturing drawings.
• Liaise with sub-contract suppliers as required.
• Some customer facing contact, primarily by telephone.
• Input all information into the computer system in order to produce full quotations

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

Previous experience, from a sheet metal/fabrication background and understanding of sector is preferred but not essential.

• Attention to detail.
• Able to understand technical drawings, and translate in line with production costings.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels.
• The candidate must be computer-literate, have good organisational skills and be capable of working on their own.

Competitive salary, rate dependent on experience.

Pay: £26,364.00-£28,392.00 per year
