Estimator

GroConstruct has partnered with a leading specialist piling and ground engineering contractor to recruit an Estimator. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of pricing across infrastructure, industrial, and commercial projects. We are looking for a real number cruncher, someone who thrives on detail. You will be experienced with Candy and understand how to estimate using first principals.

This established New Zealand owned contractor has been building foundations for more than 50 years, delivering specialist piling and deep foundation solutions across major infrastructure, industrial, and commercial projects.

With significant investment in specialist plant, technology and in-house engineering capability, the business has built a reputation for tackling technically challenging projects and complex ground conditions. Behind that capability is a down-to-earth, experienced team with a strong focus on innovation, safety and developing people from within.

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you'll take ownership of end-to-end pricing for medium and large piling projects while supporting the Senior Estimator on larger, more complex infrastructure tenders.
You'll work closely with Project Managers, Operations and site teams to ensure estimates reflect how projects will actually be delivered. From quantity take-offs and supplier pricing through to site visits, methodology discussions and project handover, you'll have visibility across the full tender lifecycle.

It's a hands-on position suited to an Estimator who enjoys the technical side of construction and wants to broaden their experience across a varied project portfolio.

Duties

• Own pricing for infrastructure, residential and commercial piling tenders
• Complete quantity take-offs and detailed scope reviews
• Source and assess supplier and subcontractor pricing
• Review drawings, specifications, site access and ground conditions
• Support pricing of major infrastructure and complex tenders
• Prepare clarifications, exclusions and pricing assumptions
• Complete clear tender handovers to project delivery teams
• Support progress claims and variations when required

Skills & Experience

• Estimating and commercial experience within construction or civil
• Strong understanding of drawings, specifications and methodology
• Confident completing detailed take-offs and structured estimates
• Strong Excel skills and commercial awareness
• Candy or similar estimating software experience is advantageous
• Comfortable engaging with clients, engineers and site teams
• Organised and able to manage competing tender deadlines
