What they need
BUILDER WANTED. Estimator
Not just an Estimator. A Builder.
You build clarity before the first piece is fabricated. You turn drawings, specifications, material requirements, labor hours, and vendor pricing into a plan the entire project team can build from. You spot the details others might miss, ask the right questions early, and create estimates that set projects up for success.
At Stanton Millworks, we’re looking for an Estimator who combines analytical thinking with an understanding of architectural millwork and woodworking. Someone who can dig into the details, communicate scope clearly, and collaborate with project teams to turn plans into exceptional finished work.
A Legacy of Building Careers
Stanton Millworks is a premier cabinetmaking and architectural woodworking shop in the Tri-state area, with an 80-plus year history of growth built on repeat and referral business. We believe in doing great work with like-minded people. Our team is unique.
As a relationship-driven company, Stanton Millworks builds strong connections with and between our Team Members. We know our employees are whole people, with families, hobbies, and lives outside of work. We work hard here, but we also work smart. Together, we celebrate wins, applaud shared successes, and work to positively impact our clients and our community.
Our full-time positions offer competitive salaries, generous PTO, and a collaborative work environment where your voice matters.
What You’ll Build
- Prepare accurate, detailed estimates from architectural drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Review project documents to understand complete scope and identify gaps, conflicts, or missing information before they become problems.
- Perform material and labor take-offs, including fabrication and installation hours.
- Develop material lists, cost breakdowns, and pricing summaries for bids and proposals.
- Obtain, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor quotes.
- Prepare clear, professional written proposals and scopes of work.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations staff to align estimates with project requirements, schedule constraints, and general conditions.
- Participate in scope reviews, kickoff meetings, and project handoffs to create alignment before construction begins.
- Track design clarifications, RFIs, change orders, and pricing updates throughout preconstruction.
- Maintain organized estimating files, vendor quotes, recaps, and supporting documentation that project teams can put to work.
- Support procurement planning by identifying material requirements and lead times early.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Participate in jobsite visits, walkthroughs, and meetings as needed to support accurate estimates and alignment with field conditions.
- Incorporate applicable safety requirements and code compliance into estimates and buyout packages while following company, OSHA, and project-specific safety policies.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Five years of estimating experience, preferably in architectural millwork, woodworking, or commercial construction.
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and contracts.
- Solid understanding of woodworking, millwork fabrication, and construction means and methods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating-related software tools.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work from the Cincinnati office during the work week as needed.
- Ability to travel locally for jobsite visits, meetings, and project coordination, with occasional overnight travel as needed.
