Duties

• Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to interpret project scope accurately
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects using estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar tools
• Analyze material requirements from blueprints and develop cost control strategies to manage budgets effectively
• Collaborate with clients and vendors through negotiation to secure competitive pricing on materials and subcontractor services
• Manage the entire estimating process from initial review through final bid submission, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Utilize construction management software and spreadsheets to track costs, update estimates, and monitor project budgets
• Conduct site visits to gather on-the-ground insights and verify quantities for more precise estimation
• Review contracts and ensure all estimates align with contractual obligations and project specifications
• Interpret construction drawings accurately, including blueprint reading and technical drawing review, to identify potential cost factors
• Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, and suppliers to clarify scope changes or adjustments during the estimation process

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry
• Strong proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate or equivalent tools
• Extensive knowledge of construction management software, Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word), and spreadsheets for data analysis
• Exceptional blueprint reading skills with the ability to interpret complex technical drawings
• Solid understanding of material cost estimating, pricing strategies, and cost management techniques
• Hands-on construction site experience coupled with a comprehensive understanding of construction industry practices
• Excellent negotiation skills for securing favorable terms with vendors and subcontractors
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration
• Familiarity with contracts, cost control measures, and estimating for commercial construction projects
