General Description

I am representing a well-established, family-owned sitework contractor in Georgia in their search for an experienced Estimator to join their growing estimating department. The company has been in business for nearly 70 years. It self-performs grading, water, sewer and storm work on commercial, residential and industrial developments across the region.

The business has a strong reputation built on repeat customers and a team that stays for the long haul. Several employees have 30+ years of service, and leadership knows everyone by name. All work is local: no per diem travel, and everyone is home with their family every night.

Bidding demand has outgrown the current estimating team, so this is a genuine growth hire. It’s an excellent opportunity for an estimator who wants to build complete bids, help shape the department’s systems, and grow into the senior estimating role.

Key Responsibilities

• Build complete bids from start to finish, from plan review through to final submission.
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs in AGTEK and Bluebeam for grading, earthwork and underground utilities.
• Prepare competitive estimates and proposals for site development projects.
• Review plans, specifications and contract documents to identify scope, quantities and potential risks.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and material supplier quotations.
• Communicate with clients, subcontractors and suppliers throughout the bidding process.
• Work closely with the lead estimator and company leadership on bidding strategy.
• Help set up and launch HCSS HeavyBid across the estimating department.
• Increase the company’s bidding capacity so it can win more work in a competitive market.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of estimating experience with a sitework, grading or underground utility contractor.
• Strong AGTEK and Bluebeam takeoff skills (essential).
• Experience estimating earthwork, grading, water, sewer and storm drainage scopes.
• HCSS HeavyBid experience is a strong advantage, particularly if you have helped set it up.
• Experience building full bids and proposals, not just takeoffs.
• Strong understanding of civil plans, specifications and contract documents.
• Reliable and organised, with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
• A team player who wants a long-term career, not a short stop.
