We are working with a well established commercial general contractor in the Northeast to find an Estimator to join their preconstruction team. The firm combines the personal touch of a family run business with the capabilities of a larger organization, and their portfolio spans corporate, hospitality, retail, multifamily, and civic work. This is a hands-on estimating role for someone who wants to build a career with a growing department. You will work closely with senior estimators and Operations on a mix of ground-up, fit-out, and renovation projects, developing the skills to take on bigger pursuits over time.

What You'll Do

• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial construction projects from concept through final bid.
• Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to identify scope, risks, and pricing considerations.
• Solicit, evaluate, and qualify subcontractor and vendor pricing for inclusion in estimates and proposals.
• Assist in developing conceptual budgets, GMPs, and detailed bid packages.
• Track material, labor, and equipment costs to keep pricing current with market conditions.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations to ensure a smooth handoff from preconstruction to execution.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and owner or architect meetings as needed.
• Maintain organized estimate files, historical cost data, and bid documentation.
• Support value engineering efforts and constructability reviews.
• Help ensure all bid deadlines and submission requirements are met.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 3-7 years of commercial construction estimating experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of construction means, methods, materials, and cost drivers.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
• Proficiency with estimating software, Excel, and current construction technology.
