What they need
Goodall Brazier have recently partnered with a leading design-build general contractor specialising in healthcare construction to assist in their search for an Estimator to join their team. This contractor delivers projects across the Healthcare sector (OSHPD/HCAI), from hospital renovations and tenant improvements through to complex ground-up medical facilities. They’re looking for a detail-driven Estimator to help their healthcare portfolio keep growing and to play an active role in winning new work.
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate, competitive cost estimates and managing the bid process from first scope review through to client delivery. The role will start on-site, so you can get to know the team, the client base and the company’s estimating processes, with the potential to move to a hybrid or remote arrangement once you’re established. When workload allows, you’ll also support the Project Engineering team. That gives you exposure to how projects are run after they’re won, along with a clear route to grow your career.
Day to Day Responsibilities of this role:
- Manage the full bid process, from the initial scope review meeting through to final proposal delivery to the client.
- Review drawings and specifications to develop subcontractor-specific scopes of work (SOWs) for bidding.
- Solicit, evaluate and level subcontractor bids for conformance to project specifications, pricing and material quality.
- Develop final proposals and budgets for review and approval by senior leadership.
- Coordinate with Project Managers on the creation of project schedules.
- Conduct site visits and job walks as required.
- Support Project Engineering as needed, including Procore setup, submittal schedules, RFIs, change events and Potential Change Orders (PCOs).
- Maintain project records, bid package files and OSHPD/HCAI documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
- 1+ years of estimating or related construction experience.
- Experience in healthcare facilities construction (OSHPD/HCAI) strongly preferred.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and specifications, with solid knowledge of the trades.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Procore and Master Builder (or similar estimating/accounting software).
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
