Estimator for Structural and Miscellaneous Metals

Steel Fabrication Estimator | Denver, CO Hueber Industries Inc. is looking for an estimator to join our team in Denver. We specialize in structural steel, miscellaneous metals, stairs, railings, and architectural metalwork for commercial and residential projects. Ideal candidates will have:

• Experience in steel fabrication, construction estimating, or project management
• Ability to read architectural and structural drawings efficiently and accurately.
• Experience with material takeoffs, pricing, and bid preparation
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Computer efficiency: Fast, accurate data entry, proficiency with keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys), and the ability to navigate multiple programs efficiently. Excel, Bluebeam, and SketchUp will be used in this job.
• Having some background with 3D modeling (we use SketchUp) is a plus.
• Strong basic math skills.

Job position is flexible; full or part time. This is a NEW position for our shop, so pay is going to depend on experience but will likely range from $24-$30 per hour, with opportunities for growth as the shop grows.

Your job will be in person at the office. The primary tasks will be:

• review blueprints and extract our scope items,
• organize and understand the fine details of the scope,
• enter in materials and labor involved into our estimating templates,
• create final quotation packages (which sometimes involves some CAD modeling work in SketchUp),
• communicate with clients during the estimating phase, creating revisions and updates to our quotes as needed.

Responsibilities

• Review blueprints and technical drawings to identify structural and miscellaneous metal requirements.
• Estimate material quantities, project budgets, pricing and costs; support cost management and cost control.
• Use estimating software and spreadsheets to prepare and organize bid information.
• Communicate with clients, review contracts and support negotiation of project terms.
• Coordinate estimates with construction management teams and contribute to project planning.
• After job award, transferring all information to the Project Manager for execution of the work.
• Occasional visits to job sites for site walks, or in some cases on site measurements.

Pay: $46,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
