Estimator / Technical Draftsperson

About the role

Artplusplay is a Perth based playground design and manufacturer who collaborates with artists and designers to produce unique and fun play experiences. The role works in the product development pipeline of the company and has the core responsibility of building cost plans for both new product lines and bespoke projects undertaken by the company. A secondary part of the role is providing support drawing production for manufacturing and project installation works.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake measuring and quantity take offs of tender documentation including drawings and specifications with the company's software and processes
• Issue quote requests and maintain communication with suppliers and sub-contractors using registers and processes utilised by the company
• Maintain up-to-date registers for RFQs, tenders, and suppliers using Excel, SharePoint, and other internal systems
• Compile quotes with the companies estimating software
• Submit quotations and maintain correspondence with the clients during the tender process
• Maintain tender folders, correspondence, and document control across multiple projects
• Undertake quoting, costing and issuing of project variations as required
• Undertake cost review and subsequent re-quoting of suppliers across project deliverables
• Contribute to the development and improvement of systems and processes for estimating and cost planning
• Assist with technical modelling and drawing preparation as directed by the Product Development Manager

About you

• Considerable experience (3-5 years) or lesser experience (2-3 years) in a training and development role in the playground industry including design and manufacturing
• Extensive industry experience in estimating, tendering and procurement
• In depth understanding of playground safety standards and compliances relating to playground equipment design and manufacturing
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience in manufacturing relating to applied concepts of structural engineering, industrial design, materials, methods of construction, transport and manufacturing costs
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Vectorworks or similar software systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong numeracy skills and confidence working with figures
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint)
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing tasks
• High attention to detail and accuracy
