Evaluator

Job Summary The Evaluator plays a critical role in overseeing personnel, production processes, and quality control activities related to seafarer certification and documentation. This full-time, exempt position ensures that applications and supporting documentation are meticulously reviewed in accordance with maritime standards, regulatory requirements, and departmental policies. The role also involves providing guidance to clients on certification processes, coordinating system upgrades, and managing administrative and quality assurance activities to support efficient operations and timely service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Manage certification data personnel and oversee daily production processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timely completion of work.
• Advise clients on the safest and most cost-effective methods of applying for seafarer certifications.
• Coordinate information technology upgrades, system maintenance, and operational improvements.
• Review incoming applications and supporting documentation to verify compliance with international maritime training, certification, watchkeeping standards, and relevant laws and regulations.
• Oversee quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality management requirements.
• Manage employee timekeeping and related administrative functions as needed.
• Monitor office supplies and consumables, maintain document processing workflows, and coordinate staff resources to meet client service requirements.
• Establish and maintain effective production processes and quality control procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve administrative efficiency, documentation accuracy, and service delivery.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of departmental policies, procedures, and operational standards.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a marine-related discipline.
• Five to ten years of administrative experience.
• A United States Coast Guard officer's license or equivalent professional experience.
• Advanced knowledge of computer databases, software applications, and hardware.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general office equipment.
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, manage responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Ability to work outside normal business hours when operational needs require.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in a marine-related discipline, additional maritime education or professional development, and experience managing personnel, workflows, and quality assurance activities.
