About the Role

NxtGen Scaffolding is an established, NASC-accredited scaffolding contractor operating throughout London and the South East.

We are looking for a reliable, organised and hands-on Evening Yard Supervisor to take responsibility for our evening yard operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of yard operatives, overseeing the loading of our fleet and ensuring all vehicles are correctly loaded and checked in preparation for the following day’s work.

Previous scaffolding experience would be an advantage; however, strong supervisory experience, leadership skills and the ability to manage a team effectively are our main priorities.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the evening shift, maintain high standards and ensure all work is completed safely, accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Team Supervision

* Manage and oversee yard operatives throughout the evening shift.

* Allocate workloads and ensure staff are working efficiently and productively.

* Maintain discipline, organisation and high working standards within the yard.

* Lead by example, taking a hands-on approach and assisting with loading when required.

* Identify and address performance or operational issues.

* Communicate effectively with the Yard Manager and wider management team.

Vehicle Loading & Quality Checks

* Oversee and assist with the loading of scaffolding materials onto company vehicles.

* Ensure all lorries are loaded correctly against the relevant load lists.

* Carry out thorough checks to ensure the correct materials and quantities have been loaded.

* Identify and resolve missing materials, incorrect loads or discrepancies.

* Ensure vehicles are loaded safely, with appropriate weight distribution and load security.

* Complete and maintain accurate loading checks and relevant paperwork.

* Ensure all vehicles are prepared and ready for the following day’s operations.

Health & Safety

* Take responsibility for maintaining safe working practices throughout the evening shift.

* Ensure all yard operatives follow company health and safety procedures.

* Monitor safe forklift operations, vehicle movements and loading activities.

* Carry out relevant yard safety checks and inspections.

* Ensure correct PPE is worn and equipment is used safely.

* Identify and report hazards, unsafe practices or defective equipment.

* Maintain a clean, tidy and organised working environment.

* Good understanding of workplace health and safety.

* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

* Reliable, proactive and willing to take responsibility.

* A practical, hands-on approach to work.

Desirable:

* Previous scaffolding yard experience.

* Knowledge of scaffolding materials, including tubes, fittings, boards and associated equipment.

* Experience overseeing vehicle loading operations.

* Forklift licence or previous forklift experience.

* Experience within a construction, transport or logistics yard.
