Event & Kitchen Support Staff

The Avenue Hall is a newly opened event venue with a full commercial kitchen in Saint Paul, proudly serving our community with a beautiful space for weddings, celebrations, and special events.

Position Overview
We're hiring an independent contractor to support event setup, teardown, and kitchen operations on an as-needed, per-event basis. This is hands-on work for someone reliable, efficient, and able to manage tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Set up event spaces before guest arrival (tables, chairs, linens, decor as directed)
• Tear down and reset the venue after events
• Clean event and kitchen areas before and after use
• Assist with food prep and getting dishes ready for service
• Set up and maintain the buffet line, including refilling and organizing food during events
• Leave all areas clean, sanitized, and ready for the next event
• Follow food safety standards in the kitchen
• Help load/unload supplies and equipment as needed

Contract Details

• Paid per event/shift (rate discussed upon hire)
• Flexible schedule based on booked events — mostly evenings and weekends
• Contractor is responsible for own taxes (1099); this is not a W-2 position
• No guaranteed hours; work is assigned as events are booked

Requirements

• Ability to lift 30+ lbs and stand for extended periods
• Available evenings and weekends based on event schedule
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Basic food handling knowledge preferred (or willingness to obtain food handler's certification)
• Prior event, banquet, or kitchen experience a plus but not required

Pay: $15.00 - $18.75 per hour
