What they need

Love planning events that bring people together? Join DC Ranch.

DC Ranch is a 4,400-acre master-planned community in north Scottsdale, next to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. It’s home to about 7,000 residents in 25 diverse neighborhoods. The DC Ranch Community Council creates the events, programs and clubs that make DC Ranch feel like home.

We’re looking for an organized, outgoing Event and Program Coordinator I to plan and run a year-round calendar of family, youth and social programs at our community centers, parks, trails and off-site venues. This is a great role for someone early in their event or recreation career who wants hands-on experience and a clear path to grow into larger events.

What you’ll do

  • Plan and run your own set of community programs and events, from planning through setup, hosting and breakdown
  • Serve as the onsite lead for evening and weekend programs
  • Manage program registration, capacity and waitlists using recreation software, and track attendance
  • Manage program budgets and make purchasing decisions within the approved budget
  • Find and work with vendors and partners, including requesting proposals and overseeing contracts
  • Support resident-led clubs with scheduling and promotion
  • Gather resident feedback, evaluate programs, and recommend new ideas and improvements
  • Answer resident questions and resolve concerns with professionalism, including issuing refunds or credits within policy
  • Work with our Communications team on website, newsletter and social media content
  • Help teammates run large signature events

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in event planning, recreation, community programming, hospitality or customer service. Internships, volunteer work and transferable experience count.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Hospitality, Business, Tourism, Marketing or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience is welcome, such as an associate degree plus one year of experience, or two years of relevant experience.
  • Strong organization, communication and follow-through
  • A positive, team-first attitude and excellent customer service skills
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and registration or scheduling software
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends and some holidays, especially during peak season
  • Valid driver’s license, clear driving record and reliable transportation
  • CPR/First Aid certification, or the ability to get it within 90 days of hire

Physical requirements
This role is active. You’ll stand and walk for long events, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, set up equipment, use ladders, and work outdoors in Arizona heat, including temperatures above 100°F.

Benefits

  • Medical (HSA-compatible plan) with an employer contribution to your Health Savings Account
  • Dental and vision insurance
  • Employer-paid life, AD&D, short-term disability and long-term disability insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid vacation, paid sick leave and paid holidays, including a floating holiday
  • Education reimbursement
  • Professional development
