Event Assistant

Overview

We are seeking one (1) proactive and detail-oriented Event Assistant to join our team at Yours Truly, Decor. This role is primarily focused on event execution, set up, and installation, alongside occassional assistsance with weekly event preparation and studio operations. We are looking for a reliable team player to work hand-in-hand with our awesme team and directly with clients to bring their special celebrations to life.

This role is ideal for someone who likes to be active, enjoys working with their hands, takes ownership of solving problems on their feet, and delivers exceptional service to our luxury clientele. Our events include but are not limited to engagement proposals, luxury picnics, baby/bridal showers, birthdays, weddings, and other events, and take place across a variety of settings (such as wedding venues, restaurants, private residencies, parks, and beaches).

The candidate must have a minimum of 6 weekend dates available per month to work events, as well as some flexible assistant hours during the week to help prep for upcoming events.

Yours Truly, Decor is a bespoke event and floral design company based in New Jersey. We specialize in elevated, editorial designs for personal, milestone celebrations.

Key Responsibilities:

Set Up & Breakdown: Assist with the physical setup, styling, and breakdown/clean up of event set ups and decor.

Logistics & Transport: Load, transport, and unload event equipment, structures, rentals, florals safely to and from event location.

On-Site Problem Solving: Think quickly and creatively to resolve layout adjustments, weather shifts, and any unexpected logistical issues

Client Communication: Oversee communication with clients on event days, keeping them updated on arrival times and setup progress; elevating their experience by bringing high energy to promote excitement for their special day and making sure clients feels celebrated; provide exceptional service by greeting clients warmly and genuinely excited for their milestones.

Floral & Decor Support: Assist with processing flowers (cleaning, trimming, and hydrating) at the studio location, and prep vessels, buckets, and candle holders.

Inventory Management: Organize, clean, and maintain event rentals and tools at our storage unit so everything is packed and ready for transport.

Logistical Errands: Coordinate or assist with picking up supplies, rentals, or inventory from wholesalers and markets as needed.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience in events, hospitality, logistics, or customer service
• Exceptional communicaton and customer service skills
• Highly organized with strong time management skills
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to work well under time constraints
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle physical labor
• Flexible schedule; availability majority of weekends in the month and flexibility on some weekend dates (usually Thursdays and Fridays).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel (SUV or hatchback preferred)
