What they need
About Rural Health West
Rural Health West aims to improve access to quality healthcare for rural communities through the provision of a highly skilled, motivated and sustainable medical, nursing, midwifery, dental and allied health workforce. We are a not-for-profit organisation primarily funded through WA Country Health Service and the Australian Government Department of Health.
Parental Leave Contract
We’re looking for an experienced Event Manager to join our team on a parental leave contract, with the flexibility to appoint one full-time or two part-time Event Managers.
The Role
Part time (0.6FTE) or Full time (1.0FTE) considered.
You’ll be responsible for delivering meaningful, high-quality conferences, awards and professional events that connect, recognise and support rural and remote health professionals across Western Australia.
This is a hands-on role for someone who loves bringing great events to life, from planning and stakeholder management through to logistics, suppliers and onsite delivery. You’ll create events that are not only well executed but genuinely make a difference to the people and communities we serve.
What you will be doing
As Event Manager, you’ll take ownership of events from concept through to completion. You’ll be involved in every stage of delivery, including:
- Event planning and project management
- Budgeting and financial management
- Sponsor and exhibitor management
- Conference program development with the support of program committee members
- On-site event management
- Post-event evaluation and reporting
About you
You’re an experienced Event Manager who enjoys taking ownership, juggling competing priorities and making things happen. You’re organised, calm under pressure and someone who takes pride in delivering events to a high standard.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience managing events from planning through to on-site delivery
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail
- A budget-conscious and commercially minded approach, with experience managing event budgets and making resources work effectively
- Experience working with funding partners and sponsors, including securing and delivering sponsorship opportunities
- Strong relationship management skills and the ability to build positive, long-term relationships with stakeholders, partners and suppliers
- A practical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to stay calm when things don’t go to plan
- The ability to work independently, take initiative and keep projects moving
Most importantly, you’ll care about delivering meaningful, well-run events and understand that great event management is about more than logistics - it’s about creating experiences that bring people together and support a bigger purpose.
