Water Street Kitchen & Bar — East Greenwich, RI

Water Street Kitchen & Bar is seeking an organized, personable, and experienced Event Manager to oversee private events and special functions at our waterfront restaurant in East Greenwich.

This position will be primarily responsible for managing events from the initial inquiry and planning stages through execution on the day of the event. We host a variety of private events, including rehearsal dinners, bridal and baby showers, birthday celebrations, corporate events, holiday parties, and other special occasions.

We are looking for someone who communicates well, stays organized, pays close attention to detail, and can confidently work with both guests and our management, kitchen, and service teams.

Responsibilities;

• Respond to private event inquiries and communicate with prospective clients
• Conduct event tours and meetings with clients when necessary
• Assist clients with selecting event spaces, menus, bar packages, layouts, and other event details
• Prepare and maintain event agreements, BEOs/event sheets, timelines, guest counts, and other event information
• Maintain organized and timely communication with clients throughout the planning process
• Coordinate event details with restaurant management, kitchen leadership, bartenders, servers, and support staff
• Ensure event spaces are properly set and ready before guest arrival
• Oversee the execution of private events from setup through completion
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients during events
• Troubleshoot guest concerns or operational issues professionally and efficiently
• Ensure event deposits, payments, charges, and final details are handled accurately
• Maintain organized records of upcoming and completed events
• Help identify opportunities to grow and improve Water Street's private event business
• Maintain a high standard of hospitality throughout the entire planning and event experience

Qualifications;

• Restaurant, hospitality, event planning, or event management experience required
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Comfortable communicating with clients by phone, email, and in person
• Ability to manage multiple events and inquiries at different stages of planning
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced restaurant environment
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating with the restaurant management team
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when events require it
• Restaurant management or front-of-house experience preferred

Position Details

Water Street Kitchen & Bar is a seasonal waterfront restaurant with private events occurring both during and outside of our regular restaurant season.

For the right candidate who is available and able to assist with upcoming events, an earlier start date may be available. Otherwise, the anticipated start date is January 1, 2027, ahead of preparations for the upcoming restaurant season.

The final structure of the position will depend on the candidate's experience, qualifications, availability, and responsibilities.

Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, availability, and the final structure of the position. Additional commission / incentive compensation through event-based commission may also be available.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
