About Lumos Experiences

Lumos Experiences, is one of the most distinctive live entertainment concepts, creating atmospheric candlelit musical concerts that transform unexpected spaces into something genuinely special.

We're growing fast, running multiple shows per week across new locations, and are looking for a confident, guest-focused Event Manager, ideally based near Cambridge or Norwich, to lead our shows front-of-house in East Anglia.

About the role

Job type: Freelance
Shift pattern: Fridays and Saturdays; shifts are typically 8 - 10 hours
Onboarding: Full training provided, including a paid training shift before your first solo event
Work location: In person, on site
Day rate: £160 - £200 per day (based on length of event)

This freelance role is perfect for anyone with experience organising events or leading front-of-house who thrives in live event environments.

As an Event Manager, you’ll be the on-site lead for our concerts (Fridays and Saturdays), responsible for set-up, the guest experience, team coordination and the smooth running of the show.

This is a hands-on event lead role. You’ll need strong attention to detail, the ability to think on your feet, the confidence to lead a small front-of-house team with warmth, and the organisation to keep the evening running exactly to plan.

What you'll do

Event lead and ownership

  • Act as the on-site lead for all event operations
  • Take overall responsibility for the success of the evening
  • Ensure the event runs on time and to Lumos standards
  • Make confident, informed decisions in real time

Guest experience

  • Oversee the full guest journey from arrival to departure
  • Ensure a warm, professional and efficient check-in
  • Monitor audience comfort, flow and atmosphere
  • Handle guest enquiries and resolve issues discreetly
  • Uphold the immersive, premium tone of the experience

Team leadership

  • Brief and lead front-of-house staff and assistants
  • Delegate roles clearly (setting up concert, ticketing, ushering etc.)
  • Maintain morale and professionalism throughout the evening
  • Step in hands-on during busy periods

Show flow and coordination

  • Manage event timings (doors, performance start and interval, where applicable)
  • Liaise with musicians on readiness and cues
  • Ensure smooth transitions throughout the evening, with a team member always present in the room

Venue liaison

  • Act as the main point of contact for the venue on the night
  • Maintain positive relationships with venue staff
  • Ensure compliance with venue rules and access times
  • Manage closing procedures and the venue handover

Issue resolution

  • Calmly resolve last-minute challenges and guest complaints
  • Make quick, solutions-focused decisions
  • Escalate serious issues appropriately

Post-event

  • Oversee a safe and orderly guest exit
  • Confirm the venue is left in the agreed condition
  • Complete event reporting and a feedback summary
  • Communicate key notes back to the operations team

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience in event management, hospitality or front-of-house leadership
  • Strong attention to detail and complete reliability
  • A calm, confident decision-maker who’s comfortable leading a team on the night
  • Warm, professional communication skills and a real passion for guest experience
  • Happy to work weekend afternoons and evenings at venues across the region
  • A full UK driving licence and your own car, and willing to drive up to 2.5 hours for an event
  • Self-insured and happy to work on a freelance basis
  • Knowledge of H&S / first aid
  • Ideally based in or around Cambridge or Norwich
  • Comfortable with manual handling and lifting tasks
  • A love of live music and immersive experiences is a big plus

Why you’ll love working with us

  • You’ll join a small, friendly team that transforms beautiful venues into unforgettable live music experiences
  • You’ll be part of a creative, growing company, with the opportunity for more hours
  • It’s a flexible, freelance role

If you’re excited by the idea of running candlelit concerts in some of the most beautiful churches and venues in the region, we’d love to hear from you!

Other offers great for you!
