Event Operations Manager

Lead event waste and cleaning operations across New Zealand

We are looking for an Event Operations Manager to own event delivery end-to-end, from the first quote through to the final report. Reporting to the National Manager, you will be accountable for the operational and commercial performance of every event in your portfolio.

THE ROLE

You take a portfolio of events and run them. That means:

• Scoping and quoting events, then building the waste management plan, budget, risk assessment and site plan behind it
• Booking and managing suppliers: staffing agencies, waste contractors, equipment hire, consumables
• Leading crews on site, from one-day community events through to multi-day festivals with large casual teams
• Designing sorting systems and bin infrastructure that actually hit diversion targets
• Managing job costing and keeping events profitable
• Owning the client relationship with promoters, venues and councils
• Running health and safety on site
• Producing post-event reports and diversion data for clients and councils
• Mentoring coordinators and site supervisors, and backing them up on the events they run

ABOUT YOU

• 3 to 5 years' experience in an operations, contracts or event management role, ideally in events, waste, cleaning, facilities or logistics
• Comfortable running large casual crews under time pressure
• Confident with clients and suppliers, and able to hold a commercial conversation
• Organised enough that everything is on site before it is needed
• Good with numbers: quotes, budgets, job costing, reporting
• Proficient in digital tools for reporting, rostering and compliance tracking (e.g. Clean Vibes App, Monday.com, Google Workspace)
• Happy to travel and work away from home through the season, including weekends and public holidays
• Experience in event waste or sustainability is a bonus, not a requirement. We will teach the waste side to the right operator.

Essential requirements

You will not be considered without all three:

• A current full New Zealand driver licence
• Your own vehicle
• The legal right to work in New Zealand

HOW THE JOB WORKS

The role is based in Auckland, with travel throughout New Zealand across the season.

Our event season runs November through to June. It peaks and troughs across that window rather than running flat, so expect stretches of back-to-back events and quieter periods between them.
