What they need

About Heritage Headquarters

Heritage Headquarters is a 15,000 sq. ft. warehouse-style event venue in the heart of Downtown Phoenix — more than a venue, a place to belong. Born from community networking events in 2016, we've grown into one of Phoenix's most versatile gathering spaces, hosting corporate events, weddings, brand activations, art shows, fundraisers, podcast recordings and community celebrations across six distinct spaces: the Corazon Hub, The Gallery, La Escuela, the Legado Boardroom, El Patio and the Heritage Podcast Studios.

Six rooms under one roof means a single contract can cover a full-day program — plenary, breakouts, a leadership session, an outdoor reception, even on-site recording. Almost no venue our size in downtown Phoenix can say that, and it's the strongest thing you'll have to sell.

About the role

Heritage Headquarters is writing its next chapter, and this role helps shape it.

You'll take the venue into the Phoenix corporate, nonprofit and celebration markets, and you'll be its ambassador to the people who fill a calendar like ours — planners, HR and People Ops leaders, nonprofit development directors, couples and families. This is a place that started as a community networking event in 2016 and still runs that way. Whoever sits in this seat carries that story into every room they walk into.

You'll also have real influence over how we go to market: how the six spaces are priced, how leads are qualified and routed, what a proposal looks like, how a tour is run. Ownership sets the strategic direction and approves pricing; you build the working version and sell against it. There's a backlog of inquiries waiting, so you'll be closing from week one while that comes together.

The path from your idea to a decision is short, you'll work directly with the owners. If you've spent years selling inside someone else's process and wishing you had a say in it, this is that job.

What you'll do

  • Prospect and develop new business across three markets: corporate and HR/People Ops teams (offsites, all-hands, leadership meetings, activations), Maricopa County nonprofit development teams (galas, donor cultivation, fundraisers), and celebrations (weddings, quinceañeras, anniversaries)
  • Run venue tours and site visits — the tour is the close in this business
  • Own every inbound inquiry end to end: response, qualification, proposal, contract
  • Build proposals, quote from the rate card, and negotiate within an approved discount framework
  • Maintain an accurate pipeline and deliver a weekly forecast to ownership
  • Develop referral relationships with event and wedding planners, caterers, DMCs and hotel partners
  • Represent Heritage Headquarters at industry and community events across the Valley
  • Hand confirmed bookings to the operations team with complete, accurate detail, and follow up post-event to secure the rebooking

What you'll help build in your first 45 days, alongside selling

  • The rate card across all six spaces — by daypart, day of week and season
  • The discount and approval framework
  • Lead intake and routing across every source
  • Pipeline stages, CRM setup and weekly reporting
  • The tour script, proposal and contract templates

What this role is not: you are not the event coordinator, the production lead or the day-of manager. Your job is to fill the calendar and hand confirmed events to the team that runs them.

What we're looking for

  • 2+ years in event, venue, catering or hospitality sales
  • Time in the Phoenix market
  • You've quoted from a rate card and tracked a pipeline, and you can explain why a booking was priced the way it was
  • Genuinely good on a tour: you read a room and listen more than you pitch
  • Self-managing — nobody here will build your week for you
  • Available for some evening and weekend tours and events
  • Set up to work as an independent contractor: you'll invoice for your monthly fee and commission, and carry your own general liability coverage

A strong advantage

  • An existing network among Phoenix corporate planners, nonprofit development staff, or the wedding and events community
  • Bilingual English and Spanish — our community, our brand and much of our market are bilingual
  • You've built something before: a rate card, a sales process, a CRM implementation

Compensation

This is an independent contractor (1099) position, paid as a monthly fee plus uncapped commission.

  • $2,500 per month ($30,000 per year), paid on invoice
  • Uncapped commission on collected venue revenue: 6% on new business you source and close, 3.5% on inbound leads you convert, 2% on repeat bookings within 12 months
  • Commission is paid monthly, on revenue actually collected
  • Target first-year earnings: $55,000 – $70,000, with real upside above that for someone who brings an existing book of business

As an independent contractor you set your own schedule and methods, and you're responsible for your own taxes, insurance and equipment. This role does not include employee benefits.

Heritage Headquarters is an equal opportunity organization. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment — it's at the heart of who we are.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Application Question(s):

  • Are you currently set up as an independent contractor, or prepared to be?
  • Tell us about one booking you're proud of closing, and why it nearly didn't happen.
  • Are you able to work some evenings and weekends based on the event calendar?
  • This role is an independent contractor (1099) position paying $2,500/month plus uncapped commission. Are you comfortable with that structure?

Experience:

  • event, venue, catering or hospitality sales: 3 years (Required)

Language:

  • English (Required)
  • Spanish (Preferred)
