What they need
You'll never be handed a script here.
Every wedding is a project with a fixed deadline and no second take. We need someone who sees problems three weeks out and solves them before anyone else notices.
The Nut Farm is a wedding and events venue set among pecan orchards in Skeerpoort, near Hartbeespoort. We're looking for an Events Project Manager: part project manager, part hospitality leader. You'll own each wedding and function from the first detailed plan through to the final handover.
THE PERSON WE NEED
Calm under pressure. Confident with people. Exceptionally organised. You make sound decisions instead of waiting to be told what to do, and you think outside the box when the plan meets reality.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
- The operational plan for every function: timelines, checklists, staffing, suppliers, setup, catering coordination and handovers.
- Function sheets and guest counts: you spot missing or conflicting details early and fix them before orders are placed.
- Planning weeks ahead, anticipating dependencies, and making sure every team has what it needs well before the day.
- Event-day briefings, coordinating departments, and a consistent guest experience.
- Complaints, difficult guests and staff conflict, handled firmly, fairly and professionally, with serious incidents escalated promptly.
- Follow-up: documenting decisions and giving management and teams clear updates.
- Protecting venue policies, safety standards, staff wellbeing and quality, without making promises you're not authorised to make.
NON-NEGOTIABLES
- Independent judgment and proactive problem-solving within clear authority limits.
- Excellent planning, prioritisation and attention to detail. Numbers and deadlines are right the first time.
- Strong people leadership: respectful, assertive, composed, and able to address underperformance.
- Conflict resolution and customer service under pressure.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with reliable reporting and follow-through.
- Comfortable with schedules, spreadsheets, function sheets and checklists.
EXPERIENCE & PRACTICALS
- Experience running complex weddings, functions, hospitality operations or project/event delivery. Supervisory experience is a strong plus.
- Able to work on-site in Skeerpoort, with flexible hours around events, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as scheduled.
- Able to coordinate multiple teams and external suppliers without dropping detail.
HOW PAY WORKS
Pay is based on what you can show us, not your CV. Your starting level is set by a practical assessment, and there's a clear path up.
- Developing (R16,000 – R20,000): A strong organiser with some event or hospitality experience. We train you on our systems and you work under guidance at first.
- Independent (R20,000 – R25,000): You've run full weddings or functions yourself, from planning to handover, and need little supervision.
- Lead (R25,000 – R30,000): You take a function sheet and run the entire event flawlessly, unsupervised, leading staff and suppliers with confidence.
Pay is reviewed at 3 months. When you're consistently working at the next level, you move up.
HOW WE ASSESS YOU
Shortlisted applicants complete a practical exercise. You'll review an incomplete function sheet, identify the risks and priorities, build a preparation timeline, and explain how you'd handle a difficult guest or staff incident.
TO APPLY
Send your CV and a short note about a complicated event you personally managed: what went wrong, and exactly how you fixed it. We want to hear the real story, in your own words.
—
A note on AI: we read every application ourselves, and we want to hear from you, not a chatbot. If AI is going to write your application for you, please don't apply.
Pay: R16 000,00 - R30 000,00 per month
