Excavator Operator/Cable Layer

Cable Layers Australia are a civil construction company specialising in underground power and communications in Western Australia.

Our main depot is based in Cockburn Central, with majority of our projects located in the greater Perth metro area.

We are seeking a suitably experienced Excavator Operator to operate 2-8 tonne machines within the metro area. Applicant must have extensive knowledge of excavating safely around underground services, and Low & High voltage mains cable laying experience.

The role is in a permanent full time basis

Key responsibilities:

• Operate a range of excavators
• Ensure safe smooth operation of plant and machinery
• Ability to understand and follow all OH&S requirements
• Read and interpret site plans and DBYD
• Suitable risk assessment skills to protect construction site and working area
• Upholding high standards of professionalism, skill, and quality in all tasks.

To be successful in these roles you will require the following;

• HR or MR class licence - Western Australia (essential)
• White Card (essential)
• Excavator operational ticket
• Knowledge of the installation of Transformers, RMU's and Streetlights
• Underground power cable hauling experience essential
• Ability to identify, locate and protect underground services
• Must be physically strong and able to undertake manual labour
• MUST be able to pass a Pre-Employment Medical and drug screen.

• Base 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day
• Time and a half rates after 8 hours, first 2 hours Saturday
• Double time rates after 10 hours, Saturday and all day Sunday
