What they need

A new way to join the Northern Territory Government

The Northern Territory Government is recruiting Executive Assistants and Administration Coordinators through the Standardised Roles and Recruitment (SR&R) Program.

Through one coordinated campaign, candidates assessed as suitable may be considered for current and future AO4 opportunities across participating NT Government agencies.

Whether you are an experienced administration professional or looking to bring your transferable skills into government, this is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful work and build your career across the Northern Territory Public Sector.

About the roles

Behind every successful team is someone who keeps everything moving.

Executive Assistants and Administration Coordinators support leaders and teams by coordinating priorities, managing information, building relationships and ensuring important work progresses.

Opportunities may be available across a range of NT Government agencies and work areas. Strong organisation, sound judgement, professionalism and communication are central to both roles.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for organised, adaptable and motivated people who enjoy supporting others and delivering high-quality work.

You may already be working as an Executive Assistant, Administration Coordinator or in another role where you have developed strong administrative, organisational and relationship-management skills.

We are interested in people who demonstrate:

  • excellent organisation and time management
  • sound judgement, professionalism and discretion
  • strong written and verbal communication
  • the ability to build positive working relationships
  • initiative and a practical approach to problem solving
  • accuracy, attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
  • confidence using contemporary business systems and digital technologies

Government experience is welcomed but not essential. We value relevant transferable skills and experience from other sectors.

Why join the Northern Territory Government?

A career with the Northern Territory Public Sector offers the opportunity to contribute to work that matters while developing your skills across one of the Territory's largest and most diverse employers.

Benefits include:

  • six weeks annual leave plus three additional Christmas leave days
  • learning, development and career progression opportunities
  • the opportunity to work across diverse agencies, work areas and communities throughout the Northern Territory
  • flexible working arrangements where operationally appropriate

How the SR&R campaign works

Submit one application for the campaign and complete one coordinated assessment process.

Candidates assessed as suitable may be considered for matching Executive Assistant or Administration Coordinator vacancies across participating agencies while the merit pool remains active.

You may be contacted about relevant opportunities and can decide whether each opportunity is suitable for you.

Ready to take the next step?

Select Apply to submit your application and take the first step towards an administration career with the Northern Territory Government.

Further information about the SR&R process and what to expect will be provided throughout the campaign.

This campaign supports recruitment to identical roles across multiple Northern Territory Government agencies. Some individual vacancies available through the SR&R merit pool may be subject to an agency Special Measures Recruitment Plan. Where applicable, the relevant Special Measures requirements will be applied when candidates are considered for a vacancy. Applicants seeking consideration under Special Measures should identify this in their application and provide the required supporting documentation.

Desired Skills and Experience

Executive administration, administrative support, diary and calendar management, meeting coordination, correspondence, stakeholder engagement, customer service, records management, document preparation, office coordination, Microsoft Office, communication, organisation, time management, attention to detail, prioritisation and working in a fast-paced environment.
