What they need

About the Role

Surpass Senior Living is hiring an Executive Director for an assisted living and memory care community in the Allen, Texas area. The specific community is shared during the interview process.

You own the community: resident care quality and satisfaction, team member engagement, financial performance, occupancy, and regulatory compliance. You build and develop the department director team, and you set the standard for how the community runs every day.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a community that operates 24/7. The Executive Director participates in the Manager on Duty rotation, including scheduled weekends and holidays, and is on call after hours for community needs and emergencies.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead all day-to-day community operations and hold the leadership team accountable to performance and operating standards
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop department directors and managers; guide hiring across the community
  • Own the annual operating budget, monthly variance analysis, and resource allocation
  • Drive sales, marketing, census development, and the move-in pipeline alongside the sales team
  • Partner with the Health & Wellness Director on resident care quality, resident dynamics, and the QA/QAPI committee
  • Ensure compliance with HHSC licensing standards and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Cooperate fully with HHSC, local fire marshals, and emergency management authorities
  • Oversee regulatory surveys and manage any Plan of Correction through to completion
  • Confirm mandatory abuse, neglect, and exploitation reporting obligations are met within required timeframes and to the correct state agency
  • Oversee resident rights and the resident grievance and complaint process
  • Keep the community Emergency Operations Plan current
  • Manage vendor and contracted service relationships, verifying performance
  • Ensure consistent use of community systems of record, including the electronic health record
  • Ensure adequate trained staffing is on duty at all times to meet resident needs
  • Build family, guest, and professional relationships that support satisfaction, outcomes, and occupancy

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Health Care Administration, Gerontology, Nursing, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field; associate’s degree in nursing or health care management also qualifies under Texas standards
  • Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience in a health-related community
  • Must meet Texas HHSC assisted living manager qualification and training requirements, including the 24-hour assisted living manager course (8 hours of Texas standards within the first 90 days of hire, 16 hours of administrative overview within the first year) and annual continuing education thereafter
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Genuine interest in and compassion for older adults
  • Working knowledge of Texas assisted living regulatory standards
