What they need
Lead. Trade. Transform. Grow.
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced executive to lead an established Australian and New Zealand retail business through its next phase of performance, transformation and growth.
As Executive General Manager, you will be the most senior executive in the business, with full P&L accountability and end-to-end responsibility for trading performance, strategy and execution. You will lead an experienced executive team across Retail Operations, Merchandise & Planning, Customer, Marketing & Digital, Supply Chain, People and Finance.
About the Role
Your mandate is to improve trading performance, elevate retail execution, strengthen customer trust and deliver sustainable profitable growth, trading the business today while building the capability for tomorrow.
You will be accountable for:
- Own the P&L, delivering sustainable growth in revenue, gross margin and EBITDA.
- Lead a disciplined weekly trading rhythm across product, pricing, promotions, marketing, digital, stores and supply chain, intervening decisively when behind plan and accelerating when ahead.
- Build category leadership and market share through differentiated, design-led value.
- Make disciplined decisions on inventory, working capital, labour and capital allocation that fund investment in growth.
- Build a high-performance sales culture and non-negotiable standards for store presentation, visual merchandising and customer experience.
- Ensure ordering, fulfilment, delivery and customer care deliver the promise made at the point of sale, lifting post-purchase NPS, repeat purchase and loyalty.
- Drive a customer- and competitor-obsessed culture, grounded in market intelligence rather than reactive price matching.
- Strengthen the digital and omnichannel proposition.
- Align the executive team behind clear decision rights, shared accountability and succession depth.
- Represent the business at Group and Board level with clear visibility of performance, risks and decisions.
About You
- Demonstrated ownership of a substantial P&L, with strong financial acumen.
- Strong track record of sales growth, market share gains, margin improvement and sustainable profitability.
- Trader's instinct: comfortable leading weekly trade, spotting risks and opportunities early and acting decisively.
- Deep understanding of how product, pricing, inventory, marketing, stores, digital and customer experience combine to drive profitable growth.
- Personal standard for store execution and the ability to deliver it consistently across a network.
- Proven success leading transformation and performance improvement in complex organisations.
- Ability to lead through senior leaders and build an aligned, high-performing executive team.
- Courage to challenge established thinking and make difficult decisions while building trust and commitment.
Experience in large-format retail, furniture, home, lifestyle or another design-led consumer environment will be highly regarded. We are also open to accomplished executives from adjacent sectors who bring strong trading discipline and proven leadership capability.
