POSITION: EXECUTIVE – INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING

OVERVIEW

We are looking for an Executive – Industrial Engineering to join the Industrial Engineering team at our plant. The role focuses on keeping a skilled workforce on the floor, meeting budgeted efficiency and keeping lost time to a minimum.

You will report to the Assistant Manager – Industrial Engineering and work closely with merchandising, the sample room, procurement and the engineering team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Obtain design details and specifications from merchandising and the sample room.
• Estimate the minimum material required for each production line, with no wastage.
• Coordinate with procurement so materials arrive on time and production never stops.
• Plan line layouts based on production requirements to maximise efficiency.
• Estimate machine requirements for each line and coordinate with engineering for procurement and installation.
• Estimate worker (cadre) requirements and allocate resources to each line.
• Train machine operators on equipment use, safety and efficient production techniques.
• Ensure machines are pre-set on time for production start dates.
• Identify opportunities for SMV savings and efficiency improvements.
• Ensure quick changeover efficiency is met as per the agreed ladder.
• Monitor efficiency metrics and ladder systems to evaluate operator performance.
• Run rewards and incentive programs for high-performing employees.
• Calculate incentives and pass them to payroll on time.
• Manage the jumper pool (reserve workers) to cover absences and shortages.
• Track downtime, maintain records and escalate issues with corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and support production teams.
• Handle any other duties assigned by management.

PRE-REQUISITES

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a related field.
• Good understanding of production processes, systems optimisation and workflow analysis.
• Able to conduct time and motion studies, data analysis and process mapping.
• Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen.
• Proficiency in industrial engineering software (AutoCAD, MATLAB, Arena, SAP).
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and present findings.
