What they need

The Cooper Group is a dynamic and diverse organisation with operations across manufacturing, hospitality, retail, and agriculture.

As Australia’s largest manufacturer of automotive wiring harnesses and looms, we operate from our manufacturing facility in Brendale and are currently expanding our contract manufacturing operations into Fiji. Our manufacturing division supports prominent national and global brands, delivering high-quality solutions across a range of industries.

Beyond manufacturing, the Cooper Group has established interests across other sectors, including a retail trade store, restaurant, laundromat and agricultural businesses.

Driven by innovation, ambition, and a commitment to sustainable growth, we continue to invest in our existing businesses while actively pursuing new opportunities for expansion and investment across the Group.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded leader to join our Executive Management Team and play a key role in the strategic and operational success of our diverse group of businesses.

This is a hands-on executive leadership role for someone who can see the bigger picture while remaining close enough to the operations to make things happen. You will have the opportunity to drive operational excellence, strengthen accountability, develop our people, and contribute directly to the continued growth and profitability of the Group.

Working closely with the Executive Team, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and Innovate: Develop and implement strategies that improve efficiency, effectiveness, and performance across the Group.
  • Oversee Critical Functions: Provide leadership and oversight across finance, purchasing, HR, and day-to-day operations, ensuring strong integration and performance across businesses and locations.
  • Drive Commercial Performance: Take accountability for Group performance and profitability, identifying and facilitating new opportunities that support sustainable growth.
  • Collaborate Across the Business: Work closely with frontline teams, managers, and the Executive Team to ensure alignment with Group objectives, priorities, and values.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Establish, implement, and refine systems, processes, and procedures that strengthen accountability, efficiency, and performance.
  • Deliver on Commitments: Maintain strong discipline around project milestones, budgets, and outcomes, empowering teams while leading by example.
  • Support International Operations: Be willing to travel and work internationally, particularly in Fiji, as required. This may include assignments of approximately two to three weeks per quarter.

This role requires a leader who can comfortably balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-moving, diverse, and entrepreneurial environment.

About You

We are looking for more than an experienced manager. We want a leader who brings energy, initiative, commercial judgement, and a genuine desire to make things better.

You are someone who sees a problem and works to solve it. You are comfortable challenging the status quo, trying new approaches, making decisions, and taking responsibility for outcomes. Just as importantly, you know how to bring people with you—empowering others, building accountability, and creating an environment where individuals and teams can succeed.

To excel in this role, you will be:

  • Qualified: Degree qualified, ideally in business, commerce, finance, engineering, operations, or a related discipline.
  • Experienced: An accomplished leader with extensive management experience and a demonstrated record of delivering successful commercial and operational outcomes.
  • Commercially Minded: Able to understand the drivers of profitability, identify opportunities, manage costs, and make sound commercial decisions.
  • Goal-Oriented: Results-driven and solution-focused, with the determination to achieve agreed objectives and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Process-Driven: Passionate about developing practical systems and processes that improve efficiency, accountability, and consistency.
  • A Problem Solver: Comfortable getting into the detail, identifying the root cause of problems, and implementing practical solutions.
  • Collaborative: A strong communicator and team player who can build productive relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Proactive and Adaptable: Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities evolve and opportunities need to be acted upon.
  • A People Leader: Able to empower others, set clear expectations, hold people accountable, and lead by example.

What We Offer

  • A competitive executive remuneration package reflective of your experience and contribution.
  • The opportunity to work closely with a progressive and entrepreneurial Executive Team.
  • A genuinely diverse leadership role with exposure to multiple businesses and industries.
  • The opportunity to influence strategy while remaining directly involved in execution and delivery.
  • The chance to lead meaningful projects and play an important role in the continued growth and development of the Cooper Group.
  • A supportive, team-oriented company culture where initiative, accountability, and contribution are valued.

How to Apply

If you are ready to bring your leadership expertise, strategic mindset, and passion for excellence to our team, we invite you to apply. Please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and aspirations.
