Aphinia

Company: Aphinia Job Type: Contract / Freelance Location: Multiple U.S. cities Compensation: $300–$750 per event, travel covered
About Aphinia
Aphinia is an exclusive community of 2,000+ cybersecurity executives, including Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) from leading companies across North America.
We host 60+ private executive dinners annually, bringing together 25–30 senior cybersecurity leaders for candid, off-the-record discussions about the challenges shaping their industry.
Our dinners are designed to be different from traditional networking events: no presentations, no sales pitches, and no forced networking. The goal is to create an environment where senior executives can exchange ideas, learn from their peers, and build meaningful relationships.
We're looking for experienced facilitators who can help us deliver a consistently exceptional experience across cities throughout the United States.
The Opportunity
As an Aphinia Executive Roundtable Moderator, you will facilitate engaging discussions at private dinners attended by senior cybersecurity executives.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced executive facilitator, peer-group chair, leadership coach, or professional moderator who enjoys bringing accomplished people together for meaningful conversations.
Events typically take place in upscale private dining rooms at restaurants. Most are evening engagements lasting approximately 3–4 hours, including preparation, guest arrival, and the facilitated discussion.
This is a flexible, per-event contract opportunity. You choose which engagements you accept based on your availability and location. We prioritize local facilitators, so regular national travel is not required.
Responsibilities

Facilitate executive discussions: Lead thoughtful conversations among 20–30 senior executives, encouraging candid dialogue and practical knowledge-sharing.

Create an inclusive environment: Help participants feel comfortable contributing while balancing different personalities, seniority levels, and communication styles.

Use structured discussion prompts: Follow Aphinia's facilitation playbook, including opening remarks, discussion questions, transitions, and closing reflections.

Manage group dynamics: Encourage quieter participants to contribute, tactfully redirect dominant speakers, and keep discussions productive and on topic.

Maintain neutrality: Ensure the conversation remains peer-focused and educational rather than promotional. Uphold confidentiality and reinforce our no-pitch, off-the-record ground rules.

Represent Aphinia professionally: Set the tone for a polished, welcoming executive experience and coordinate with our event team before and during each dinner.

Provide feedback: Share brief post-event observations to help us continually improve our format and attendee experience.

Qualifications
Required:

Demonstrated experience facilitating executive peer groups, leadership discussions, mastermind groups, board-level conversations, or senior professional roundtables.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage senior leaders with confidence, credibility, and tact.

Strong listening skills and the ability to ask thoughtful follow-up questions that move conversations beyond surface-level networking.

Comfort managing group dynamics, navigating differing opinions, and keeping discussions productive without dominating the conversation.

Professionalism, punctuality, discretion, and a strong commitment to confidentiality.

Availability for occasional evening events and reliable communication regarding scheduling.

Highly desirable:

Experience as a Vistage Chair, EO Forum facilitator, YPO Forum facilitator, or similar executive peer-group leader.

Experience facilitating discussions involving C-suite executives, senior technology leaders, or cybersecurity professionals.

Background in cybersecurity, information technology, or technology leadership is a plus, but not required. Strong facilitation skills and experience leading executive-level discussions are more important.

Background in executive coaching, leadership development, organizational consulting, or professional meeting facilitation.

Experience hosting dinners, roundtables, or other in-person executive gatherings.

You do not need to be a cybersecurity expert. We provide the event context, discussion prompts, and facilitation framework. Your primary responsibility is to facilitate an excellent conversation.
What Success Looks Like
A successful moderator:

Gets the conversation flowing naturally without making the dinner feel like a workshop.

Creates an atmosphere where executives feel comfortable sharing candid perspectives.

Ensures the discussion is engaging, balanced, and relevant to participants.

Handles difficult personalities and awkward moments with confidence and diplomacy.

Delivers a polished, professional experience consistent with Aphinia's standards.

Compensation and Work Arrangement

Contract compensation of approximately $300–$750 per event, based on experience, location, and scope.

Flexible, per-event scheduling with no guaranteed minimum number of engagements.

No requirement to travel nationally; we prioritize facilitators in or near each event city.

Opportunity to build an ongoing relationship with a growing national executive community.

Training, event briefs, discussion prompts, and a standardized facilitation framework provided.
