Why Moxie
Moxie is an executive search and advisory firm. We work with the owners, founders and boards of privately held businesses across New Zealand and Australia.
Almost all of our work comes by referral, which only happens if the last job was done well. So we take on fewer searches at a time and spend longer on each one. For you that means time to do the work, and no pressure to push a candidate forward who is not right.
We are a team of five. Our main office is in New Plymouth and one of our Partners is based in Cambridge. We work hard, laugh often, and back each other.

The Role
You will research markets to work out who is out there for a role, including the people who are not looking. You will qualify them against the brief, interview at senior level, run behavioural assessment, complete references, and form a view on capability, motivation and fit that a board or an owner can act on.
You work alongside a Partner. The client relationship is theirs, and they lead the first approach and the close. Most of what happens in between is yours. The shortlist that reaches a client, and the thinking behind it, is your work.
You stay with the candidates through the process. Senior people take a risk when they put themselves forward, and how they are treated on the way through matters. That includes the ones who miss out.
There are no sales targets and no cold calling clients. It is not an administration role either.

Who We Are Looking For
You have interviewed senior people and formed views you were prepared to defend, and to change. That might come from agency recruitment, in-house talent, or a senior HR role.
You will do well here if you are:

• Credible with senior people. You can sit opposite a CFO or general manager as an equal
• Curious about businesses, markets and careers
• Confident approaching someone who is not looking for a job
• A strong writer. Our documents go to boards and owners
• Organised enough to carry several searches without leaving anyone waiting

This is not an entry level role.

Hours and Location
The role can be part time or full time, with hybrid working from a base in either Cambridge or New Plymouth. We will work the arrangement out with the right person.
Those are the two places the team sits. The Partner you would work alongside is in Cambridge, and the rest of us are in New Plymouth. There is value in being face to face some of the time, so we are looking for someone who can work from one of those two bases.

This is a role you could build a long career in. If you want more, there is a path to a consulting role with your own clients. That is available, not expected.
