Executive – Technical Engineer (OEM)

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Sime Kansai Paints Sdn Bhd is a joint venture between Kansai Paint Japan and Sime Motors Sdn Bhd. We are a dynamic and growing organization specializing in the manufacturing, distribution and sales of automotive coatings, cathodic electro-deposition (CED) paints, primers, thinners and refinish coatings for automobiles and motorcycles.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

●   Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Applied Science or related field with 3 – 5 years of relevant experience.

Experience

●   Working experience as an Engineer / Chemist in the Automotive paint and Coatings industry is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

●   Computer literate.

●   Proficient in Chinese, English and Bahasa Malaysia with assertive and good communication skills.

●   Self-motivated with strong communication skills across all levels of staff.

●   Able to work with minimum supervision.

●   Possesses leadership skills, decisiveness, good judgement, fairness, good character and excellent planning and project management skills.

JOB SUMMARY

●   Responsible for product development, handling projects from laboratory development through specification test compliance, line trial and line troubleshooting during mass production.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

●   To assign jobs to Technical Assistants and monitor progress against their job scope.

●   To arrange preparation for line trials and standard panels and to produce the related test data.

●   To make judgement and approval decisions on colour, workability and other product properties.

●   To arrange specification tests and workability tests, assign projects to Technical Assistants and monitor progress and analyse results.

●   Responsible for laboratory 5S activities including own area cleanliness and monitoring of the spray booth, preparation area and oven room cleanliness.

●   To assist with in-house troubleshooting and testing activities and to attend and investigate customer complaints based on 4M analysis.

●   To arrange and monitor spray booth major cleaning activities and waste disposal.

●   Responsible for laboratory administration, including monitoring lab equipment condition, Technical Assistants' attendance, performance and overtime and lab consumable purchases.

●   Responsible for troubleshooting testing, assigning jobs with test instructions to Technical Assistants and monitoring and analysing test results.

●   To attend customer lines and prepare reports for line trials and customer complaints.

●   To prepare and submit weekly, monthly and other reports (test reports, visit reports, customer complaint and service reports).

●   To maintain good customer relationships

●   To check and analyse Technical Assistants' daily check sheets and monthly project trackers.

●   To understand basic legal requirements and the company's SHE procedures and rules.

●   To identify major hazards and understand appropriate safe handling methods for raw materials.

●   To wear appropriate PPE as and when required.
