Hours:

• Tuesday & Thursday: 8:00am to 4:30pm
• No Weekends

Position Objective
The Exercise Physiologist assists with the daily operations of Alexandria Clinic Cardiology Clinic to ensure the cardiopulmonary program provides high quality care and excellent customer services in accordance with the federal regulations and standards.

Essential Responsibilities
The following description of responsibilities to be performed is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished.

• Assess patient and identify their cardiac risk factors
• Assist with the development of the exercise prescription
• Develop and implement the individual treatment plan in collaboration with the Physician
• Collect outcome data and report the information
• Evaluate and modify ITP as needed to meet goals (in collaboration with the Physician)
• Recognize and attend to the psychosocial and developmental growth needs of patients and those significant to the patient
• Perform stress testing procedures
• Identify proper diagnosis and reason for testing
• Screen EMR and verify there is a Physician order and review patient history
• Monitor and stop stress testing based on patient’s ECG, verbal, physical, and emotional condition and/or Physician’s order
• Monitor and evaluate patient during recovery period
• Identify patients who are candidates for pharmacological stress testing
• Demonstrate proficiency in operating Exercise Testing System (ECG and Treadmill)
• Monitor and evaluate patient’s vital signs during procedure
• Monitor and evaluate patient’s ECG measurements during stress testing
• Identify and achieve target heart rate for each patient undergoing stress testing
• Report and document all critical results in accordance to practice guidelines

• Perform all other related duties as assigned in a professional and responsive manner

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors/Master’s degree in Exercise Science
• Certification as a Clinical Exercise Specialist (CES) by the ACSM or Certified as a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist by the ACSM (RCEP)
• BLS/ASLS Certified

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of experience working in Cardiology Stress Testing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Proficient in ECG interpretation
• Strong knowledge of exercise physiology, cardiac anatomy and pathophysiology, nutrition, risk factors modification strategies, and health coaching/counseling techniques as defined in the AACVPR core competencies position statement
• Knowledge in identifying ECG abnormalities
