Experienced Barista

MŌWAI Coffee – Brighton

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Barista to join our team on a part-time basis.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of speciality coffee experience and a genuine passion for quality coffee and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing high-quality speciality coffee and espresso-based drinks
• Demonstrating strong knowledge of different coffee varieties and brewing methods
• Producing consistent, high-quality latte art
• Dialling in espresso and adjusting grinders to achieve consistent extraction
• Carrying out grinder calibration, routine cleaning and basic maintenance
• Helping customers choose coffee based on their preferences and providing knowledgeable recommendations
• Taking orders and payments at the till
• Preparing and serving drinks and food to tables
• Clearing and resetting tables
• Working quickly and efficiently during busy periods
• Maintaining a clean, tidy and organised coffee bar and customer area
• Ensuring high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the café

About You

• Minimum 2 years experience in speciality coffee
• Confident with espresso preparation, milk steaming and latte art
• Good knowledge of coffee varieties and different brewing methods
• Experienced in dialling in espresso, grinder calibration, cleaning and routine grinder maintenance
• Friendly, approachable and confident when communicating with customers
• Able to work efficiently and remain calm under pressure
• Clean, organised and detail-oriented
• Reliable and responsible
• A positive team player with a strong work ethic
• Passionate about coffee and committed to creating a great customer experience
