Experienced Boilermaker

If you are an experienced boilermaker living around Gawler, the Barossa or northern suburbs, and you are tired of travelling for work, this might be worth a look.

This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday, with overtime opportunities.

What might a day look like?

…..Honestly, we do a bit of everything.

You might start the morning repairing a cracked truck body, then move onto modifying a trailer or fabricating a replacement part for a piece of agricultural machinery.

Other times, you might be part of a larger fabrication project that runs for a week or two, such as building additions for a tipper body or completing a more involved truck or machinery modification.

The next job could be structural steel from a detailed drawing. Or a customer might bring in something damaged, worn out or no longer doing what they need it to do. There may not be a neat set of instructions. You will need to look at the job, work out what is possible and decide the best way to repair, modify or rebuild it.

That is fairly normal here.

We do not do production line work or run the same welds every day. You will use more than just your welding skills. You will measure, mark out, fabricate, repair, problem solve and make things fit properly.

We expect you to bring solid trade skills, but we do not expect you to know Argoweld from day one. Our work is varied, so there will naturally be a learning curve while you become familiar with our jobs and how we do things. We will help you get up to speed, and you will have an experienced crew around you when you need to ask questions, bounce ideas around or get an extra set of hands.

What we need

This role does not suit someone straight out of their apprenticeship.

• Trade-qualified boilermaker with at least 5 plus years post-trade experience

• Strong fabrication skills, including MIG and TIG welding and experience welding aluminium

• Stick welding experience is desirable

• Able to read drawings, whether detailed or sketched on the back of an envelope, think through jobs and make sound decisions on the tools

• Comfortable taking responsibility for your work and seeing a job through

• Pride in doing the job properly and keeping an organised workspace

• Current driver's licence

• Comfortable recording work in a job system

• Forklift licence desirable but not essential
