What they need
Adventure Awaits Bookkeeping | Full Time | Hourly | Growth Focused Accounting Team
Are you an experienced bookkeeper who loves clean books, solving problems, building strong processes, and being part of a team that actually wants to grow together?
Adventure Awaits Bookkeeping is growing, and we are looking for an Experienced Bookkeeper who wants more than a job checking transactions off a list. We are building a team of smart, motivated people who take ownership of their work, support one another, and want opportunities to keep learning, advancing, and building meaningful careers in accounting.
About us
Adventure Awaits Bookkeeping is a growing bookkeeping and advisory firm that believes great client service starts with a great team.
We work with growing businesses that need more than basic bookkeeping. Our clients rely on us to keep their financials accurate, organized, and moving forward so they can make better decisions in their businesses.
But growth at AAB is not just about adding more clients.
We want the growth of our company to create growth opportunities for our Team Members.
As AAB grows, we are intentionally creating stronger career paths, new levels of responsibility, leadership opportunities, specialized roles, and opportunities for Team Members to expand their skills.
We believe in building a company where talented people can look ahead and see somewhere to go.
You will also be joining a collaborative pod based team where communication, documentation, shared accountability, and supporting one another matter. Our bookkeepers are expected to understand the purpose behind their work, not simply complete tasks.
The Role
As an Experienced Bookkeeper at AAB, you will be an important part of the accounting team responsible for keeping assigned client books accurate, organized, and moving forward.
This is a great fit for someone who already has a solid bookkeeping foundation and is ready to take greater ownership of recurring client responsibilities.
You will work closely with an Account Manager and other members of your pod while developing deeper technical knowledge, stronger accounting judgment, and greater independence.
We are looking for someone who can confidently handle the everyday work of bookkeeping while also knowing when to research, investigate, ask questions, and dig deeper.
You should enjoy figuring things out.
You should care about deadlines.
You should notice when something does not look right.
And you should want to understand why something is happening in the books, not just how to record it.
What you'll do
Your day to day responsibilities may include:
- Code and categorize transactions accurately according to client specific processes and charts of accounts
- Complete bank, credit card, loan, clearing, and other account reconciliations
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll related bookkeeping, deposits, and other recurring accounting workflows
- Complete assigned month end responsibilities and prepare client books for Account Manager review
- Review activity for errors, duplicate transactions, missing information, unusual balances, and discrepancies
- Prepare routine journal entries and adjustments within established processes and your level of authority
- Maintain supporting schedules, workpapers, and documentation
- Research bookkeeping questions using client history, SOPs, previous transactions, source documents, and available resources before escalating
- Manage recurring deadlines proactively and communicate early when something could impact timing or quality
- Follow up on missing information and keep workflows moving
- Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, Account Managers, and other Team Members when appropriate
- Keep client procedures and documentation organized so work can easily be understood and supported by other members of the team
- Participate in training, coworking sessions, pod meetings, and team collaboration
- Continue developing your technical skills, efficiency, judgment, and independence
These responsibilities align closely with the role’s core areas of recurring bookkeeping execution, month end accuracy, judgment and research, workflow planning, communication, documentation, and team contribution.
What you Bring
We are looking for someone with real bookkeeping experience who is ready to step into client work and continue growing.
You may be a great fit if you bring:
- Prior professional bookkeeping experience
- Strong understanding of transaction coding and supporting documentation
- Experience completing bank and credit card reconciliations
- Experience working with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll related accounting, or month end bookkeeping
- QuickBooks Online experience
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to accuracy
- The ability to organize and prioritize recurring responsibilities across multiple clients and deadlines
- Strong problem solving and research skills
- The confidence to investigate an issue before immediately asking someone else to solve it
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Reliable follow through
- Comfort learning new technology and client specific systems
- A team first attitude
- A growth mindset and a willingness to receive feedback, learn, and continue developing your skills
Experience working with construction, service based, or multi entity businesses is especially helpful.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who takes ownership.
At AAB, ownership means noticing the question before someone has to point it out, caring about the quality of the finished product, communicating when something is getting off track, and wanting to understand the client behind the numbers.
What we offer
A company that is growing
AAB is actively building for the future, and we want our Team Members to benefit from that growth.
Real career growth opportunities
This role is not intended to be a stopping point. Our Bookkeeper role is designed to develop toward greater independent ownership and progression into Bookkeeper Lead/Senior Bookkeeper as technical ability, accuracy, judgment, and independence grow.
As the company grows, we want to continue creating opportunities for talented Team Members to take on more advanced client work, higher level accounting responsibilities, mentorship, leadership, and future roles within AAB.
A team you are actually part of
We work collaboratively. You will have people to learn from, people to problem solve with, and teammates who care about doing excellent work together.
Training and development
We expect people to keep learning here. Team Members participate in training, pod collaboration, coworking, feedback, and stretch opportunities designed to build both technical knowledge and confidence.
Performance based earning opportunities
This position may be eligible for performance based incentives or quarterly KPI bonuses established by AAB.
Tools to do your job well
AAB uses modern tools including QuickBooks Online, Financial Cents, Notion, Excel, Front, Loom, Zoom, RoboForm, Dropbox, and client specific systems. Full time Team Members are provided the hardware and software needed to perform their role.
Flexibility with accountability
Our standard work hours are flexible within 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time availability window, as long as deadlines, communication expectations, meetings, and team needs are met.
You'll Love AAB If........
- You want to be part of a company that is still building.
- You want your ideas and contributions to matter.
- You like structure, but you also like improving how things are done.
- You enjoy solving accounting puzzles.
- You want teammates who care about the quality of their work
- You want to keep growing professionally instead of doing the exact same job year after year.
- And you are excited by the idea of joining a company where company growth creates opportunities for people growth.
If you are looking for a bookkeeping role where you can contribute, learn, take ownership, and build toward what comes next, we would love to hear from you.
Adventure Awaits. Your next career chapter might too.
