What they need

Position Overview

Industresource is seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented CNC Press Brake Setup / Operator to join our precision metal fabrication team in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Our facility operates TRUMPF TruBend 2100 and 5230 CNC press brakes, producing a wide variety of precision sheet metal components for commercial and industrial applications.

This position primarily involves setting up and operating CNC press brakes using programs developed by our programming department. The successful candidate must be capable of independently selecting and installing tooling, interpreting engineering drawings, verifying bend sequences, making necessary machine adjustments, and consistently producing accurate finished components.

While advanced CNC programming experience is not required, the ability to make adjustments at the machine and create simple bending programs is a valuable additional skill.

We operate in a high-mix, low-volume job-shop environment where attention to detail, efficient setups, quality workmanship, and the ability to work independently are essential.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate TRUMPF TruBend 2100 and 5230 CNC press brakes using established bending programs.
  • Read and accurately interpret engineering drawings, fabrication prints, and bending specifications.
  • Select, install, align, and adjust appropriate punches and dies for required forming operations.
  • Review programmed bending sequences and verify tooling configurations before production.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and make necessary machine adjustments to achieve specified dimensions and angles.
  • Understand and compensate for material springback, thickness variations, and other factors affecting bending accuracy.
  • Measure and inspect finished components using calipers, micrometers, angle gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Produce accurate components from mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other sheet metal materials.
  • Maintain consistent dimensional accuracy throughout production runs.
  • Identify and troubleshoot forming problems, tooling issues, and dimensional discrepancies.
  • Communicate programming or design issues to the programming and engineering team when necessary.
  • Minimize setup time, material waste, and unnecessary handling while maintaining quality standards.
  • Safely handle and position sheet metal components using appropriate material handling equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform routine machine inspections and basic operator-level maintenance.
  • Assist with other fabrication operations when production requirements allow.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating CNC press brakes in a sheet metal fabrication environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently set up press brakes, including tooling selection, installation, and adjustment.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Working knowledge of sheet metal forming principles, including bend radii, material springback, and bend allowances.
  • Ability to accurately measure and inspect formed components.
  • Experience making machine adjustments to achieve required bend angles and finished dimensions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and productivity with limited supervision.
  • Commitment to safe machine operation and proper material handling.
  • Dependable attendance and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating TRUMPF TruBend CNC press brakes, particularly the 2100 or 5230.
  • Familiarity with TRUMPF machine controls and tooling systems.
  • Ability to create or modify simple bending programs directly at the machine.
  • Experience working in a high-mix, low-volume precision fabrication shop.
  • Experience forming mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum across a variety of material thicknesses.
  • Understanding of how laser-cut blank dimensions and material characteristics affect finished formed parts.
  • Ability to recognize potential problems in bend sequences or tooling configurations before producing parts.
  • Experience safely operating forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Familiarity with other fabrication processes such as laser cutting, welding, and mechanical assembly.

Personal Qualities We Value

Quality-Focused: Takes pride in producing accurate, consistent components and understands how forming accuracy affects downstream fabrication and assembly.

Self-Sufficient: Capable of reviewing a job, setting up the machine, and producing quality parts with minimal supervision.

Detail-Oriented: Carefully verifies dimensions, bend angles, material orientation, and overall part quality.

Problem Solver: Recognizes forming challenges and takes initiative to identify practical solutions.

Dependable: Maintains consistent attendance, arrives ready to work, and takes responsibility for assigned tasks.

Team-Oriented: Communicates effectively with programming, engineering, and other fabrication personnel.

Versatile: Enjoys working in a small job-shop environment with varied products, materials, and production requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and operate manufacturing equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely lift and position materials within company-established lifting limits.
  • Ability to perform repetitive material handling, measuring, and machine operation tasks.
  • Good vision, with corrective lenses if necessary, for reading drawings and inspecting parts.
  • Ability to safely work around industrial machinery and material handling equipment.
