Experienced Dental Assistant – General Dentistry

Overview

AZ Prime Dental is a growing general dentistry practice looking for an experienced Dental Assistant to join our team.

We are looking for someone with at least 1 year of recent experience working in a general dental office. This is an important requirement because our practice provides a wide range of general dental services, and we need an assistant who is already familiar with general dentistry procedures, terminology, and clinical workflow.

The right candidate will be comfortable working directly with the dentist, preparing for procedures, anticipating what is needed chairside, and helping the day run smoothly. We are looking for someone who can bring their existing experience to the position while continuing to grow with our practice.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance during general dental procedures
• Prepare operatories, instruments, and materials before appointments
• Assist during fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, extractions, dentures, implants, and other general dental procedures
• Take dental X-rays
• Prepare and handle dental materials according to the procedure
• Maintain proper sterilization and infection-control procedures
• Keep operatories clean, organized, and stocked
• Assist with patient charting and clinical documentation
• Help patients feel comfortable and cared for throughout their visit
• Communicate with the dentist and team to keep appointments running efficiently
• Follow HIPAA and office policies
• Help with other clinical tasks as needed

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 1 year of recent hands-on dental assisting experience
• Recent experience specifically in a general dentistry practice
• Familiarity with common general dentistry procedures and terminology
• Ability to confidently assist a general dentist chairside
• Ability to anticipate the dentist's needs during procedures
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Reliable and punctual
• Professional and friendly communication style
• Comfortable working as part of a team

Preferred

• RDA or CDA certification
• Current X-ray certification
• Experience with digital X-rays and CBCT
• Experience with restorative dentistry
• Experience assisting with crowns and bridges
• Experience with root canals and extractions
• Experience with implants, dentures, and partials
• Experience with digital dental charting/software

Experience Requirement

This position requires recent experience in general dentistry, not simply previous experience from several years ago.

Our ideal candidate has been working recently in a general dental practice and is comfortable with the variety of procedures and workflow found in a general dentistry office.

If your current or most recent dental assisting position has been in a specialty practice, please make sure you also have sufficient recent general dentistry experience to meet the requirements of this position.
