Experienced Electrical Service Lead

American Electrical Contracting is looking for an Experienced Electrical Service Lead to join our Residential Service Division.

This is a hands-on position for an experienced electrician who is confident troubleshooting electrical problems, communicating with customers, and taking ownership of a service call from arrival through completion.

We're looking for someone who knows the trade, takes pride in solving problems the right way, and understands that great service is about more than the repair itself. Our Service Leads represent AEC in our customers' homes every day, and professionalism, communication, workmanship, and respect for the customer's property all matter.

What You'll Do

• Troubleshoot and diagnose residential electrical issues.
• Perform electrical repairs, replacements, upgrades, and installations within your qualifications and experience.
• Install and service electrical devices, lighting, circuits, wiring, panels, and related components.
• Review assigned calls and prepare for anticipated tools, equipment, and material needs.
• Explain findings and recommended work clearly and professionally to customers.
• Keep customers informed about the work being performed and what to expect next.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area while protecting customer property.
• Accurately document work performed, materials used, job notes, photographs, and other required information.
• Communicate job progress, unexpected conditions, material needs, or customer concerns with Dispatch and Service Management.
• Provide day-to-day direction and hands-on training to an assigned Apprentice or Helper when applicable.
• Follow AEC safety procedures and applicable electrical requirements.
• Take ownership of assigned calls while recognizing when additional technical or supervisory support is needed.
• Participate in the Service Division's on-call rotation as required.

What We're Looking For

• Typically 3–5+ years of relevant residential electrical experience.
• Strong residential electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Experience performing residential electrical repairs, replacements, and installations.
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to explain electrical issues and recommendations in a way customers can understand.
• Ability to organize work efficiently and manage changing priorities throughout the day.
• Experience providing direction, training, or support to Apprentices or Helpers.
• Comfortable using mobile technology for job documentation, communication, and timekeeping.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to operate a Company vehicle in accordance with Company requirements.
• Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, professionalism, and team accountability.

Journeyman credentials, apprenticeship completion, electrical certifications, or other relevant trade education are preferred but are not required solely to hold the Service Lead position. Employees must work within their demonstrated qualifications, training, and any applicable supervision or licensing requirements.

Our Service Leads are trusted to walk into a customer's home, figure out what's happening, communicate clearly, and leave behind work they're proud to put the AEC name on.

We also believe experienced electricians have something valuable to pass along. When paired with an Apprentice or Helper, our Service Leads are expected to teach, answer questions, demonstrate proper work methods, and help develop the next generation of electricians.
