Experienced Field Locksmith
Lubbock Lock & Key — Lubbock, Texas
Full-time · In person / customer sites · $25–$30 per hour
Lubbock Lock & Key is looking for an experienced field locksmith who can diagnose problems, perform clean, dependable work, and take care of the customer through completion.
This role focuses on commercial locksmithing and door hardware, with opportunities to work on access control, safes, and master key systems. Access-control experience is especially valuable. Tell us which areas you can handle independently and where you want to grow.
The work

Install, repair, and service commercial locks, cylinders, exit devices, door closers, strikes, hinges, and related door hardware.

Diagnose door alignment, latching, locking, and hardware problems; identify the cause and verify the finished repair.

Rekey and service locks, maintain master key systems, and protect accurate key-control records.

Install, service, and troubleshoot access-control components within your training and licensing, including readers, controllers, electric strikes, electrified hardware, and associated wiring.

Perform safe diagnosis, combination changes, lock replacement, and other safe service within your demonstrated capability.

Assess the complete customer need, explain options clearly, confirm authorization, and coordinate parts, estimates, and return visits.

Keep accurate job notes, photos, time, materials, pricing, and status updates in Workiz or similar field-service software.

Keep dispatch, customers, and coworkers informed. Maintain an organized vehicle and care for tools, inventory, and customer property.

What we are looking for

Verifiable paid, hands-on locksmith experience. At least one year is required; two or more years and demonstrated independent field-service ability are preferred.

Strong mechanical troubleshooting, rekeying, and commercial lock or door-hardware skills.

Access-control installation or service experience is strongly preferred. Safe work and master key experience are also highly valued; you do not need to be an expert in every specialty to apply.

Sound judgment with customer authorization, keys, codes, combinations, and confidential security information.

Clear customer communication, dependable follow-through, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with a team.

Comfort with mobile apps, manufacturer instructions, wiring diagrams, parts catalogs, and modern research tools. Verify what you find and test what you install.

A valid driver’s license and a driving record suitable for assigned company-vehicle use.

Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain the Texas DPS licenses and employer affiliation applicable to assigned locksmith and access-control work.

Pay, benefits, and growth
Pay is $25–$30 per hour, based on demonstrated skills and the range of work you can complete independently. Broader commercial-door, access-control, safe, and master-key capability supports consideration toward the top of the range.

No after-hours on-call rotation.

Opportunity to earn a monthly field production bonus in addition to hourly pay and applicable overtime, subject to program requirements.

Benefits are planned for the near future. Specific offerings, eligibility, and start dates are being finalized and will be discussed during hiring.
