About Mermed

Founded in 1990 and proudly Australian owned and operated, Mermed is an established manufacturer of healthcare and industrial labelling solutions.

Our products are used by hospitals, healthcare providers and businesses across Australia, supporting reliable identification, traceability, patient safety and operational efficiency.

As demand for our products continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Flexographic Press Operator to join our Sydney production team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the setup, operation and troubleshooting of our flexographic press, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining high standards of print quality, safety and efficiency.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced operator who takes pride in producing quality work, has strong mechanical and problem-solving skills, and is comfortable taking ownership of their press and production outcomes.

Your experience will be valued, and you'll have the opportunity to contribute ideas that improve quality, reduce downtime and make our production processes more efficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate the flexographic press to meet production schedules and quality requirements
  • Monitor print quality and make adjustments to maintain consistent output and colour accuracy
  • Troubleshoot press faults and production issues to minimise downtime
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance
  • Complete quality inspections and ensure finished products meet required specifications
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised work environment
  • Work collaboratively with the production team to achieve production targets and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Work on other production machines, equipment and processes, as required by the Operations Manager

What We're Looking For

Previous experience operating flexographic printing presses is essential.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience with flexographic press setup, operation and changeovers
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with practical troubleshooting and fault finding skills
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing consistently high-quality work
  • A commitment to quality and workplace safety
  • The ability to work independently, take ownership and meet production deadlines
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Desirable Experience

It would be an advantage if you also have:

  • Experience in the label, packaging, printing or healthcare manufacturing industries
  • Experience working within an ISO-certified manufacturing environment
  • Preventative maintenance or machine servicing experience
  • Experience with continuous improvement or process optimisation
  • An interest in learning new skills and becoming multi-skilled across other production equipment

What's in It for You?

  • $85,000 salary
  • Stable, full-time position with an established Australian-owned manufacturer
  • A role where your flexographic experience and technical knowledge are valued
  • Work producing specialised healthcare and industrial labelling products
  • Opportunity to contribute ideas and improve production processes
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Opportunity to broaden your skills across specialised manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Supportive, quality-focused team environment
