Experienced General Laborer

The General Laborer will assist construction personnel with job site tasks. This position will take direction from the Field Superintendent. All General Laborers should possess basic carpentry skills, perform work in a safe manner and follow company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Basic carpentry skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Curiosity and ability to learn and to follow directions.
• The ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
• Professional appearance.
• Reliable vehicle.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work on a consistent basis, including lifting up to 100 pounds.
• All candidates must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• 2-5 years experience in the multiple aspects of construction. For example, but not limited to:

§ Concrete

§ General carpentry (metal and wood framing)

§ Installation of specialties

§ Operating equipment and performing site grading

§ Site work

§ Installing door frames, door slabs and door hardware

§ Installing metal and wood framing

§ Installing grab bars and other bathroom specialties

§ Installing bathroom partitions

§ Installing interior and exterior signage

§ Installing wood blocking

§ Performing selective demolition to include building and site demolition

§ Installing case work

§ Laying out and pouring concrete foundations

§ Installing storm sewer piping and structures

§ Installing foundation drainage systems

§ Etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for performing general labor, material handling, and job site cleanup as assigned by the Field Superintendent.
• Ongoing development and knowledge of carpentry skills and basic construction techniques.
• Maintains a safe and clean job site.
• Respectful of customer’s property. Protects furniture/belongings from construction materials, debris, etc.
• Understands and complies with all company policies and safety guidelines.
• Maintains excellent company image; demonstrates integrity and trust.
• Demonstrates positive customer and fellow employee relations.
• Attends company meetings and company functions as requested.
• Miscellaneous and other duties as assigned.
• Independently assess project needs, anticipate upcoming tasks and take initiative in moving projects forward.

Schedule:

Official workday is determined by the Field Superintendent on a daily basis.

Compensation and Benefits:

· Hourly pay - $16-$25 based on experience

Physical Demands:

· Employees may be required to stand or walk over 75% of the time.

· Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling may be required.

· Lifting up to 100 lbs.

· Must meet vision requirements to obtain driver’s license.

Work Environment:

· Working in wet or humid conditions may be required.

· Working near moving mechanical parts.

· Working in high or precarious places may be required.

· Fumes or airborne particles may be present at worksites.

· Employees may work in outdoor conditions.

· Loud noises are typical for this job.
