Experienced Litigation Attorney

Job Overview

We are a growing, business-focused law firm seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join our team. This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity for an attorney with at least five years of substantive litigation experience and meaningful experience handling matters through trial.

We are looking for a confident, strategic advocate who is comfortable taking ownership of matters and managing cases from inception through resolution. The right candidate will have strong litigation fundamentals, sound judgment, and the ability to work directly with clients while effectively advocating for their interests both in and out of the courtroom.

This role offers a high level of responsibility and autonomy and is well suited for an attorney who enjoys substantive legal work, direct client interaction, and playing an active role in case strategy and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Develop and execute case strategy based on client objectives and the circumstances of each matter
• Draft and argue motions, briefs, pleadings, and other litigation filings
• Take and defend depositions
• Manage all aspects of discovery, including written discovery, document production, and discovery disputes
• Prepare for and participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
• Examine and cross-examine witnesses
• Work directly with clients throughout the litigation process, providing clear and practical guidance
• Negotiate settlements and communicate effectively with opposing counsel
• Conduct legal research and analysis as needed to support case strategy
• Manage multiple matters and competing deadlines while maintaining organized case files

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active and in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan
• 5+ years of substantive litigation experience
• Meaningful trial experience required
• Experience taking and defending depositions
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage a litigation caseload
• Strong strategic judgment and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organization and attention to detail
• Strong client communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
