What they need
Logistics Specialist
Own the journey. Solve the challenge. Deliver for our customers.
At Sharp, logistics is about much more than moving products from A to B. Our work supports pharmaceutical and biotech customers around the world—helping clinical trial materials reach the right destination, accurately, compliantly and on time.
We’re looking for a Logistics Specialist to join our team in Rhymney, Wales . This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, managing a varied workload and building strong customer relationships.
You’ll be trusted to manage logistics activities for your allocated customers and studies from start to finish. You’ll set priorities, coordinate international shipments, anticipate risks and keep customers and stakeholders informed throughout the process. When challenges arise, you won’t simply pass them on—you’ll take the lead in finding a practical solution.
What you’ll be doing
- Acting as the main logistics contact for allocated customers and clinical studies.
- Taking ownership of international shipments from origin through to final destination.
- Planning and prioritising multiple projects, deadlines and customer requirements.
- Coordinating couriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, depots and other partners.
- Preparing and reviewing shipping and customs documentation, including invoices, bills of lading and customs declarations.
- Supporting the correct classification of goods and calculation of duties and taxes.
- Managing distribution, retrieval, return and destruction activities for clinical trial materials.
- Identifying missing information, potential delays and compliance risks before they become problems.
- Providing customers with clear updates, practical shipping advice and a consistently high standard of service.
- Monitoring performance, maintaining accurate project and invoicing information, and driving actions through to resolution.
- Working in line with Sharp policies, SOPs, client instructions and applicable GMP and GDP requirements.
- Contributing to continuous improvement projects and supporting colleagues across the wider business.
What you’ll bring
You’ll be organised, proactive and comfortable being accountable for your own work. You’ll know how to balance competing priorities without losing sight of the detail, the deadline or the customer.
You’ll also have:
- Experience in logistics, supply chain or project management.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping, customs and import/export processes.
- The ability to manage several projects or workstreams at the same time.
- Confidence working directly with customers and a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- A good understanding of Incoterms, shipping documentation and courier services.
- Strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Experience within pharmaceuticals, clinical trials or another regulated environment would be an advantage, particularly if you have managed global clinical trial distribution or worked with SAP or a similar ERP system.
Why Sharp?
Sharp is a global leader in clinical supply chain services and pharmaceutical packaging, supporting customers from early-phase clinical trials through to commercial launch. You’ll join a collaborative team where your judgement, ideas and ability to take ownership will make a genuine difference to our customers and the patients they serve.
Occasional UK and international travel may be required.
Ready to take ownership of the next step in your logistics career? We’d like to hear from you.
Sharp is an equal opportunities employer. We believe that a diverse workforce is central to our success and welcome applications from all sections of society.
