Position Overview

K&M Communications is seeking an experienced, dependable Low Voltage Service Technician to support our growing service operations.

We are looking for a well-rounded technician who can work independently, troubleshoot unfamiliar systems, communicate professionally with customers, and manage service calls from start to finish.

This position is primarily focused on troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, and service rather than new construction. The ideal candidate has broad technical experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to take ownership of their work without constant supervision.

For the right individual, this position offers opportunities to grow into additional responsibilities involving technical support, service coordination, scheduling, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial low-voltage systems.
• Service access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, structured cabling, and related systems.
• Troubleshoot wiring, power supplies, relays, electronic door hardware, networking, and equipment failures.
• Manage assigned service calls, including customer communication, troubleshooting, repairs, and follow-up.
• Maintain accurate service tickets, labor records, material usage, photographs, and documentation.
• Identify required materials, additional repairs, and outstanding service needs.
• Coordinate with office personnel to ensure work is properly documented and completed.
• Provide technical assistance to other technicians when needed.
• Support installation projects and system upgrades as required.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and accommodate occasional after-hours or emergency service work.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial low-voltage installation and service experience preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting experience across multiple low-voltage systems.
• Working knowledge of access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and network-connected security equipment.
• Understanding of electrical fundamentals, relay logic, and low-voltage wiring.
• Ability to read drawings, schematics, and manufacturer documentation.
• Comfortable using computers, email, electronic work orders, and service management software.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and follow through on outstanding issues.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Experience with Gallagher, Hirsch, Genetec, Avigilon, Bosch, Milestone, or similar systems is a plus. Manufacturer certifications are preferred but not required.
