Join a different kind of financial planning firm

We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Paraplanner to join Path Financial as we establish our new office in Totnes, Devon.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an award-winning, Chartered and B Corp certified financial planning business that believes financial advice should make a positive difference to people’s lives and the world around us.

You’ll work closely with our Totnes-based Financial Adviser, playing a key role in delivering thoughtful, high-quality financial planning to our clients.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys the technical side of financial planning, takes pride in producing excellent work and wants to contribute to a progressive, collaborative and values-led business.

About Path Financial

Path Financial is a growing, independent financial planning and wealth management business with clients and colleagues across the UK.

We believe financial planning should be about more than money. Our approach combines expert financial advice with a commitment to helping people make informed choices that align with their goals and values.

We’re proud to be a Chartered financial planning firm and a certified B Corporation, reflecting our commitment to high professional standards, responsible business and positive social and environmental impact.

Our recognition also includes Good with Money’s Good Egg recognition, FT Adviser Boutique Adviser Top 10 recognition and Ethical Consumer Best Buy recognition.

As we grow our presence in Totnes, we’re building on our existing local advice team and creating an opportunity for talented people to help shape our future.

The role

As an experienced Paraplanner, you’ll play an important role in the financial planning process, working alongside Financial Advisers to develop and implement appropriate financial planning strategies for our clients.

This is a varied and technically engaging role, with opportunities to contribute to complex planning cases, collaborate directly with advisers and clients, and help improve the way we deliver financial advice.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing client circumstances, financial objectives and existing arrangements to identify planning opportunities and considerations.
  • Undertaking detailed technical research and developing appropriate financial planning strategies in collaboration with advisers.
  • Preparing clear, accurate and compliant suitability reports, financial plans, recommendations and supporting documentation.
  • Creating and maintaining cashflow forecasts and using financial modelling to help clients understand their financial futures.
  • Supporting planning across pensions, retirement, investments, tax efficiency, estate planning and other areas of holistic financial advice.
  • Preparing annual review documentation, valuations and financial analyses.
  • Working closely with advisers throughout the advice process, including attending client meetings where appropriate.
  • Communicating with clients and professional contacts to obtain information, clarify requirements and support a high-quality client experience.
  • Maintaining accurate client records and ensuring all work meets regulatory and internal compliance standards.
  • Supporting colleagues through knowledge-sharing, mentoring and technical guidance.
  • Contributing to improvements in our systems, processes and financial planning proposition.

About you

We’re looking for an experienced Paraplanner with strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail and a genuine interest in helping clients achieve their financial goals.

You’ll bring:

  • A Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (or equivalent recognised qualification).
  • Significant experience in financial planning or paraplanning, including at least two years preparing technical financial plans and suitability reports.
  • Strong knowledge of pensions, investments, retirement planning and tax-efficient financial planning.
  • Experience researching and evaluating complex financial planning solutions.
  • Confidence using cashflow modelling tools to support financial planning recommendations.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial matters clearly.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to work directly with advisers and clients.
  • A commitment to delivering high standards of accuracy, professionalism and client care.
  • A proactive attitude towards learning, technology and continuous improvement.

Desirable, but not essential:

  • Experience with Salesforce, Voyant, FE Analytics, DocuSign or SharePoint.
  • An interest in responsible investing, sustainability and values-based financial planning.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring other paraplanners or financial planning colleagues.

Why join Path?

At Path, you’ll be joining a business that combines high professional standards with a genuinely different approach to financial planning.

We offer:

  • A competitive salary reflecting your experience and technical expertise.
  • The opportunity to work closely with experienced Financial Advisers on a varied range of financial planning cases.
  • The chance to help establish and shape our growing presence in Totnes.
  • A supportive and collaborative team that values new ideas and continuous improvement.
  • Opportunities for professional development and progression.
  • The chance to work for a purpose-driven, B Corp certified business committed to responsible and sustainable financial planning.

We offer a benefits package designed to support your wellbeing, professional development and work-life balance. This includes a generous holiday allowance, flexible working arrangements, private health insurance, a cycle-to-work scheme and generous employer pension matching contributions. We also provide a dedicated study budget to support your ongoing professional development and career progression.
