Restaurant floor experience essential

This is not a first hospitality job, and it is not a café, retail or bar-only role.

We need someone who already knows how to work a restaurant floor and takes pride in doing it well. You will look after guests properly — warm, accurate and unhurried — and help keep the room sharp during service.

Script is a busy restaurant and bar at The Hertsmere in Radlett, open to golfers, families and local guests. Some services are breakfast and brunch. Some are driven by play on the course. Evenings and events need the same standard when the pace changes.

Hours

The restaurant operates 07:00–22:00, and until 02:00 for events. Early starts, evenings, weekends and late event finishes are part of the job.

You must be able to get to and from the site reliably for those hours. The Hertsmere is a golf-course location. Free on-site parking is available.

What you will do

• Deliver confident table service from welcome through to the end of the meal
• Serve food and drink accurately, with good knowledge of the menu, specials, allergens and dietary needs
• Work the restaurant floor and support the bar when needed
• Keep your section right: tables reset, glassware and cutlery up to standard, side work done without being asked
• Work closely with the kitchen so orders are accurate and food goes out on time
• Stay aware of quieter and busier periods, including golf-driven trade, and use downtime well
• Help with opening, closing and end-of-shift cleaning
• Deal with guest queries calmly and pass on anything you cannot resolve

Who this is for

• Proven restaurant waiting experience — you have already worked a floor, not only a counter or a bar
• Reliable, punctual and ready to work from the start of the shift
• High personal standards of appearance, energy and service
• A team player who takes direction, stays focused and notices what needs doing
• Comfortable across restaurant and bar, and across early, late and weekend work
• Able to travel to Radlett / Elstree for 07:00 starts and, when needed, finishes after events
