Master Tailor/Seamstress – Advanced Alterations

Willowbrook Tailoring is seeking an experienced Senior Tailor/Master Seamstress with extensive alteration experience to join our busy, established alteration shop in Willowbrook, Illinois.

This position is not entry level. We are looking for a highly skilled professional who can confidently perform complex alterations with minimal supervision and provide exceptional customer fittings.

Compensation

Starting at $22 per hour, with higher pay available based on experience, skill level, and the ability to perform advanced alterations and fittings independently.

What You'll Do

• Perform expert alterations on bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, mother-of-the-bride dresses, prom gowns, and formalwear
• Complete complex alterations including bodice reconstruction, taking gowns in or letting them out, bustle creation, hem reshaping, sleeve and strap modifications, corset adjustments, lace and beadwork, and delicate fabric repairs
• Tailor men's suits, jackets, slacks, and other garments to a high professional standard
• Conduct customer fittings, pin garments accurately, and determine the best alteration solutions
• Work independently while maintaining exceptional quality and meeting deadlines
• Ensure every garment leaves the shop with impeccable craftsmanship

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional tailoring/alteration experience
• Proven ability to perform advanced alterations without supervision
• Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern adjustments, and fit
• Experience working with lace, silk, satin, tulle, chiffon, beading, and other delicate fabrics
• Excellent fitting and pinning skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
• Professional, dependable, and customer-focused
