About the Position

Royal Truck & Utility Trailer is seeking an experienced Semi-Trailer Mechanic to join our Dearborn service team.

This position is for a technician with hands-on semi-trailer repair experience. The ideal candidate has a strong background diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial trailers and is comfortable performing both mechanical and structural repairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain semi-trailers and specialized trailer equipment.
• Perform repairs to trailer braking systems, including air brakes and ABS.
• Repair and maintain suspension systems, axles, lift axles, and related components.
• Perform structural and frame repairs.
• Perform trailer body repairs and replacement of damaged components.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and lighting systems.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems and components.
• Perform welding and metal fabrication as required for trailer repairs.
• Work on specialized equipment, including walking floor and other specialty trailers.
• Inspect trailers to identify mechanical, structural, and safety-related issues.
• Complete preventative maintenance and general trailer repairs.
• Accurately document repairs and parts used.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Follow company safety procedures and manufacturer specifications.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on semi-trailer repair experience required.
• Strong knowledge of commercial trailer systems and components.
• Experience with air brakes, ABS, suspension, axles, and trailer electrical systems.
• Experience with structural trailer repair, fabrication, and welding.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems.
• Experience repairing or maintaining specialized trailers is a plus.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and shop equipment.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL is a plus but not required.
• Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently.
