What they need

Are you passionate about great coffee, good food, and creating a place where people love to spend time?

We’re looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced Café Supervisor to help lead our team and keep things running smoothly at Well & Fed.

We’re a neighbourhood café that cares about good coffee, delicious food, and making every customer feel welcome. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in what they do, enjoys a busy service, and knows how to bring out the best in a team.

You’ll work closely with the owner, who is also hands-on and works shifts in the café, so this is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day running of a business, taking ownership, sharing ideas and helping the café grow.

This is a hands-on role. We need someone who can lead by example, work shoulder to shoulder with the team during busy periods, maintain high standards and make sure both customers and staff have a great experience.

Previous supervisory experience in hospitality is essential. We’re looking for someone who has genuinely led a team in a café.

Hours: Approximately 25–30 hours per week. Weekend availability is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the team during daily service, setting the standard through your own work and attitude.
  • Work closely with the owner to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the café.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service, food quality, presentation and cleanliness.
  • Prepare and serve excellent coffee and other hot and cold beverages.
  • Prepare food and sandwiches to our standards, keeping quality and consistency front of mind.
  • Welcome customers, help them with menu choices, take orders and process payments accurately.
  • Keep the front of house, coffee station and customer areas clean, organised and inviting.
  • Monitor stock levels, replenish supplies and flag ordering needs.
  • Ensure food safety, hygiene and health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Help train, motivate and support team members, creating a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Take initiative, solve problems as they arise and help identify ways to improve service and daily operations.

What we’re looking for

  • Previous supervisory experience in hospitality — ideally in a café.
  • A genuine sense of pride and ownership in your work.
  • Someone friendly, confident and comfortable talking to just about anyone.
  • A hands-on leader who is happy to jump behind the coffee machine or help on the food station when service gets busy.
  • Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to support and motivate a team.
  • Someone organised, reliable and able to multitask under pressure without compromising standards.
  • A proactive attitude: you spot what needs doing and get on with it.
  • Someone who enjoys working closely with the owner and being part of a small team where everyone's contribution matters.
  • Weekend availability is essential. You won't necessarily work every weekend, but you must be able to work weekends when needed.

What we offer

  • The opportunity to take on responsibility and develop your skills as the business grows.
  • A friendly, supportive working environment where your ideas and input are valued.
  • Discounted pantry items for staff.
  • Free coffees and staff food on shift
  • Birthdays off

We look forward to meeting you.
